Clare's Face

I love drawing and painting faces as many of you know. However, what really challenges me is to create small faces. I usually make large faces as I like to work on the details and find this hard on small ones. So, when Clare shared her technique over at Paper Artsy when she was their guest designer I thought I might give it it a go. You can see Clare's technique here.

I follwed Clare's instructions here's how I started. All paints are Fresco acrylics from Paper Artsy and the pencils I used are prismacolour.

My light isn't good as this looks lilac but it is vintage lace fresco by Paper Artsy.

I do use lilac for the hair making it darker with French roast.

I had some left so used my knife and applied to the tag.

I didn't have the stamps Clare used but was happy to use what I did have.

The lines and splatters are one stamp from IndigBlu but I cut the stamp up to Separate the different patterns. I used French roast for the lines and zesty zing. I then used a flourish stencil from Prima bought from the funky junky and used very berry.

I thought it was looking a bit too busy so thought I add some more lol. I chose a free flower stamp and used sky.

Once I had the flowers stamped I filled them in with the same colour which I think pulled the tag together.

I then added Susy (the name I gave my girl)  I had given her a dress and added some roses and a ribbon. I cut out the words from a dylusions stamp.

So here she is, I was pleased with the result and I want to thank Clare for sharing how she makes one of her girls as Susy would not exist if not for her.

Thanks for visiting and I'd love to read your comments

Hugs from me to you xxx

  10. This is gorgeous Deborah and your Susy is beautiful. I think you were spot on with filling in the blue flowers. I was surprised what a difference it made and your background ended up fabulous too.
