Show your face

Morning crafty friends I'm sharing a quick face I did last night using water soluble pencils. I used a mix media journal by Strathmore. I do love doing these quick sketches with pencil, very satisfying!  What you up to this weekend? Hope you have some crafty time. I'm off to Birds In the Barn to teach a workshop today and then a nice relaxing day planned for tomorrow.

If this has inspired you to get crafty leave a link in the comments so I can visit to have a look.

Take care for now

New Challenge

Morning everyone, today starts a new challenge over at That's Crafty and the theme is Masculine. My teammates have some fabulous makes to entice you to enter the challenge, and of course if you win you will receive a £20 voucher to spend in the wonderful shop.  For my make I made a Father's Day  card

The theme of the card is the bird scaring the cat which is perfect as we often tease my dad, as he has a cockatiel and we have a cat. When Ollie the bird squawks my OH says he'll set the Kashmir the cat on him, which my dad responds to with a string of
**#%$¥€?!%#*** about how Ollie will win lol. Of course he loved the card.

I started with a design paper I've had in my stash for ages and added infusions colours to it and once dry gave a light coat of chalk Fresco paint. Added my bird and cat from Tim Holtz coloured in their colours using Water soluble oils pastels from Prima. The sentiment is a die cut from Crafter's companion.

I hope you get to play along, and would love to see what you make.
Take care for now

P.S. Come back later as I have some fantastic news to share but shhhh for now!

Media Fluids

Hi everyone, I'm really cold,  I've come in for my lunch and it's freezing in the house. I was snug as a bug in the craft room. I have even put the heating on.  So while I warm I'll share what I have created this morning. An A4 water colour page using Media Fluids from DecoArt and Inktense pencils from  Dewent.

Next come pics of how I got here.

I then took it into Procreate

And then into repix

I do love to mix it

I hope you come back to see the finished painted version.
Take care

It's a make over

Evening everybody I hope you are all well. I've being playing on the iPad again this time doing a bit of a make over. The very talented Ivy Newport has given us an excersise in her fabulous class Sacred Landscapes to use a magazine posed person to work over. Dina Wakley also recommends this way of working to help develop your own style as well as learning about anatomy and pose. I also find it useful to help me with shading and highlights. The majority of my paintings of people come out of my head, I know lots of people like to use references, I think you have to do what works for you, but I find trying to copy something  is extremely hard for me as too many doubts and not good enoughs turn it into an over thought piece of work instead of the intuitive way I prefer to work.    In this excersise you find a picture and using very basic shapes create somethings over the top using as much or as little of the original picture. So first you will see below the original and underneath my make over. Underneath that will be one from my journal day with Dina Wakley in March 2016. The first picture was created by taking my stock photo into Procreate on my iPad and using the digital brushes created my picture. The second was using Dina's Media Acrylics, they are very different but equally enjoyable for me to create.   There is also an enlargement of the digital face which I am linking to Kim Dellow's share your face, which is a Friday link up of face creators.  So no 1

I really like playing this way so you will probably see lots more. I hope you all have the best weekend you can
Take care as always

Another Card

Morning everyone, today I'm over At That's Crafty with another card, this time a birthday card for My Aunt who turned 80 recently. I enjoyed making this for her. Even though I was brought up my Gran and my Aunt was on my maternal side she never forget my birthday and when I was little she would always puts some money in the card. This meant a lot to me back then and its something I have never forgotten. I felt remembered!  Anyway here's a sneak peak, and to see the whole thing and how I created that pretty background please visit TC's blog for all the details. I would love to hear what you think.

Take care as always and I hope to see you soon

New Challenge

Hello everyone, it's time for a new challenge over at That's Craftyhat's Crafty and the theme is 'In the Pink'. I love the colour pink, and had a real pink phase a few years back. I'm a bit of everything girl at the moment which is a bit of a wall blocking creativity but hey, we've all been there! Over on the blog my team mates have come up with some beauties for you to gaze your eyes upon, and let all those creative neurons fire. If you are the lucky winner you will receive a £20 voucher to spend in the shop.   Here's my creation
F

Lots of visual texture by laying the stencil with different colour pinks in watercolours. Layers of fabrics and lace

Dry embossed sentiment swiped with watercolour. Flowers to complete.

I hope you get to play along

Another house

Morning my crafty friends and followers, how are you all this morning? I'm tired, as my day in London yesterday was long and hot. However, I still had time to play, and made this little house. Again I was inspired by Paper Artsy's theme and will enter this in their challenge.

I used a Time Holtz die, Village Dwelling Paper Artys Fresco Acrylic Paint, and Golden Fibre Paste Gel.

Here's a few photos of the making.

It was fun to make and something different.

Some houses

Morning crafty friends, thanks for popping in. I have been playing with polymer clay from Sculpy making a small plaque, which can be hung on a wall. I was inspired to make this, by the current challenge over At Paper Artsy which is Our House.

I rolled out the clay and cut it into 5 pieces. Each piece I shaped into a house giving doors and windows and a quirky roof. Once they were baked I painted them with gesso.

I positioned them on the plaque arranging until I was happy.

I used water soluble Oil Pastels to paint the background  and then added the trees.

Once the paint was dry I have all the houses a coat of spray gloss sealer

I stuck the houses on using glossy accents

I had some clay over so made another house, this time to hang with my collection.

Enjoyed playing with the Clay it was fun.

Take care and I'll see you soon

Recently I made a very small journal approx 6x4in and this is what I used for my face.

I am so in love with playing with the pencils and oil pastels especially in the evening sat in front
