Journal cover part 2

Morning everyone. Ooh it's a chilli morning here in Essex although lovely and bright. Hope you are well and enjoy your day. I'm off to my Dad's for lunch which will be nice.

Okay, so onto part 2 of my journal cover. This is the journal I will use for my new mixed media challenge  I will be hosting monthly. Please see previous post for details.

So here is the video - I hope you enjoy. This is my first live action video. It is me in my craft room as I really am. You will see the the untouched hair and glimpses of me in my PJs. In there I don't worry about what I look like and to be honest I didn't give it a thought until I edited the video, and by then it wasn't important.

I really enjoyed watching myself create and I think we can learn a lot about ourselves by observing that which we don't usually get to see.

Decorated journal cover

Hello and welcome. I hope you have had a fantastic Christmas and that your New Year is amazing.

I have decided to to start Documented Life Project 2015 and watched Cover Story by Lorraine Bell which inspired me to cover my new Dyan Reaveley journal. 

I will use this journal for a new mixed media challenge I will be hosting starting on the 20th January. The theme each month will a be sign of the zodiac starting with Aquarius. You can interpret the theme however you wish and use any materials. 

To enter you must follow my blog and add your creation to the linky at the bottom of the relevent post. I will use random.org to choose the winner, who will receive 3 DecoArt products. Each month there will be a new prize. The runner up, which will be chosen, will be invited back as a guest for the following month.

I do hope you will be able to play along. I will be demonstrating DecoArt products and putting them through their paces. In some cases the product I use will be provided by DecoArt however, my opinion will be my own.

It's a ghosting thing, #3UP

Evening everyone, I hope you all had a fab day yesterday and here's wishing you all a happy Boxing Day. 

Tonight over on the Paper Artsy blog we are demonstrating our fav techniques and I chose ghosting which I know about, from watching Dyan Reaverly on you tube. So grab a drink as this post has quite a few photos.

I started building my background using lots of different colours. Spray colour onto the background spritz with water and then lay on your stencil and wipe the colour off with kitchen wipe. You can really build up lots of colour and texture. I have also sprayed colour, add the stencil and spritz over the stencil, let the water sit for a bit and then wipe off. In addition I have also sprayed the colour add the stencil and then wipe off the colour with a wet wipe. Any of the ways works well and depending on the colour and how wet you make it, you can even add texture by using  kitchen wipe with a texture pattern as many of them have. This leave a print of the texture pattern which randomly placed looks fab.

I used a mixture of spray paints with a Lin Brown stencil 005

Next I started to work on my elements for the page.

I took a plain fame and using crackle glaze from PA gave it a distressed look. I also added some grunge paste randomly for more texture and once dry painted it patina antiquing creme from Decoart 

rubbed it back and then added treasure gold.

I love tearing the paper and adding different elements. Much of this is influenced by Gabrielle Pollocco  her work is much pettier than mine as I like more of a grungier look. I played around with different elements until I was happy before sticking anything down.

You can see from this photo that there is lots of textures from the different materials I have used.

For the frame I chose to you a quote by Anais Nin. This is a favourite of mine and as my page is about busting out, and not staying put the quote fitted nicely.

I took a background into the app of my little printer and then added the frame and words. I love my printer it uses no ink just special paper but prints out great photos which are 3x2 inch in size perfect for scrapbook img etc. the model is LG pocket photo.

Last speed Craft challenge this year

Afternoon lovelies, where has the time gone? I cannot believe that this time next week it will be Christmas. All the stress will be forgotten as good cheer feels our hearts, and we will look forward to the New Year to realise our hopes and dreams.

As many of you know I've been struggling on and off the last few weeks with minor health issues and low mood, all connected to hormones, well what else! Today I think the flu which has rendered me bed ridden for the last week might just be receding. Fingers crossed!

Anyway on to my tag for this weeks challenge over on The Speed Craft blog It's the lovely Mo's turn and she chose stencils as her theme but we're also allowing anything goes as its Christmas. Please read the rules of the challenge and most importantly time your project and include in your post.

So I gathered my materials, it appears I didn't take a photo of my supplies but here is the start of my time

I started with shimmer mist in Turquoise from Decoart sprayed onto my craft mat and then with a piece of cut dry onto my stencil

I then sprayed this with white shimmer mist

I continued to stencil with different colours building up my layers

I then added a flower and little sentiment, as you can see from my time I only just made it! I did have to pause the time due to receiving a phone in the middle lol.

So come on,  it only take 15 mins and you might be chosen as our winner.

speed Craft Challenge - Butterflies

Afternoon everyone, I hope you are all well. It's that time again on the Speed Craft Challenge and this week it's Laine's choice of Butteflies. All you need to do to enter is set a timer for 15 mins minutes and create something beautiful. And off I went.  The edges of paper are distressed and then stuck on a mat which are layered onto the card. Added some bling and voila! And with over 3 mins left on the clock which this time I managed to photo.

Wanda Styli

Hi everyone, it's a blustery wet day here and much colder than previously. However, I still managed to get out in the shed and have a play. I so inspired by Wanda's stunning creation over on the Paper Artsy Challenge blog , that I had to have a go.

This week, is Wanda's last guest spot on the Blog , check out here To go to her blog and see all her lovely makes.

So, I had a look around and could not find a canvas so thought I would use a hanging board, it wasn't as big as Wanda's but I knew it was right.

I pretty much followed Wanda's recipe until assembly.

Grunge paste, fresco paints in Squid Ink, Mushroom, and Eggplant.

I used the Squid ink around the roughened edges to give a distressed look.

I added some pleated organzer and secured with wired string.

I painted the flowers in  the same three colours, adding a touch of Yellow Submarine and Chalk to the centres.

(Sorry the photos aren't better the light was terrible)

To compete I added some open wove material under the main feature as I did not have the room to add more flowers as Wanda had. I love this combination of colours.

Hello everyone, well Sunday's nearly over and I am entering the Paper Artsy Challenge  right at the last minute. take a look here

I loved the bow that Darcy created here and thought it would be nice to do something thing similar. I wanted to make a snowflake as demoed by Tina Boyden at the craft club we both attend. You can see Tina's here

After adding some stamping I cut my paper into 1/2 in strips

Then to assemble

Hanging in the garden. You can see the beautiful afternoon sun we were enjoying.

More butterflies

Evening everyone, hope you are all well. Tonight I'm sharing another entry into CVC challenge which ends very soon. The theme is bugs, Bees and Butterflies.

Today I bought a few more Distress Stains and had a play on a journal page.

I then used a wooden ATC card to mask areas and spayed more ink.

I added some stamping

Once this was dry I added Rust Paint to edge the frame areas. I also added some outside the frames.

I added a feature in each frame

I then added my butterflies

 To finish I added some doodles.

I used a black posca pen to darken ares.

It's a man thing

Speed Craft Challenge - More Inspiration!

Evening everyone!  I hope everyone is wrapped up warm and doing ok. I would like to say hello and welcome to my new followers it's lovely to have you here.

Tonight I'm sharing a quick crafty make I created for some more inspiration on the speed craft challenge blog. The theme this challenge, is anything goes, chosen for us by the lovely Ingrid who is our wonderful leader.

So I gathered my bits and bobs and set the timer

I had already printed off my Vintage Christmas paper  from our fabulous sponsor Julie from  The Old  Design Shop who has agreed to three images from her Etsy shop as the prize for the winning entry. I think that's a marvellous prize especially if you are into Vintage backgrounds.

I tore around the edge of the rose and used Vintage photo distress ink around the edges. I then stuck this to my Manila tag from Ranger #8 using a Matt medium. I dried this with the heat gun and and then used the distress ink on the bare parts of the tag. I used a stamp with broad lettering randomly on the tag in stained walnut. I asembled my elements and then stuck them on. To a small die cut shape I stamped Art and distressed in the same colours. I then used treasure gold around the edges and fixed this on using a small cushioned pad.

And then as I went to take a photo of my time I pressed the reset button by mistake. So I'm sorry I cannot show that I finished with 10 sec spare but really did. 

So come on gather that stash,  plan what to make,  and get crafting after all it will only take you 15 mins, and   you 're worth it!  Plus enter the challenge and you could be our lucky winner. What you got to lose lol. Take care and see you all soon.
