Amongst the flowers for Paper Artsy

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well and feeling peaceful. Now I've settled after my leap up North, I'm feeling very peaceful, I'm enjoying the quiet at home, and the buzz at work. Anyway I'm here to let you know that I'm over at Paper Artsy tonight with a small wall hanging. Here's a peep, but I'd love it if you went and had a look and left me some love.

Hope you like it!

Take care as always

Something playful

Hello everyone I do hope you are all okay. It's been a while since my last blog due to the big move up North. I have relocated from Essex up to Cumbria, new job and home. Just need my lovely husband to join me (once he gets a job) and our dream is complete, although much earlier than we anticipated.

Anyway onto a quick play I had the other evening! It took me over a week to get the craft room sorted, but whilst packing I made myself a an emergency bag of craft stuff as I knew it would take a while to get straight. In all honesty I haven't had the energy or motivation to do much crafting but hope now I'm straight and settled in that my creativity will return. So here it is!

I didn't take any process shots as I was in the moment and enjoying myself, but I'll walk you through the stages!

The background was Infusions by Paper Artsy which I sprinkled onto the page and spritzed with lots of water, I then used a wooden stirrer from a coffee shop to spread the colour around the page.

Next I stamped the feature again from Paper Artsy Wings Plate 1 and then I used one of the lovely Emma Godfrey's new Stencils which were released this week. Here's a link to the blog where you can see all the stamps and Stencils in this release.

You can see that I added some shapes of my own which I painted with Inktense pencils from Dewent.

Hope you like my page!
Take care for now

New challenge in only 30 mins

Hello everyone, thanks for popping in! Today being the first day of the month sees a new challenge start at Country View Crafts and it's a fab one chosen for us by the fabulously Talented Sue. Make something in 30mins!

All your entries entitle you to be in the draw to win £20 to spend in the shop plus Sue will pick her favs. So come on don't be shy set your timer and go!

For my inspiration I chose to work in my small journal!

Here's what I did, I'll provide a list at the bottom of materials used.

I knew I wanted to get sticking so I gathered all my supplies and set my timer, I forgot to screen capture the start and finish times
But trust me I stuck to my limit!

So everything got stuck down with Matt medium and painted over with White. Wasn't sure where I was going here as although I knew I was doing a
Journal page I hadn't a clue at this stage what it would be. I love all the different textures you can see below!

Still not knowing where I was going I add some infusions in my fav colour Violet Storm. I loved the effect, you can see more below!

Then for some unknown reason I grabbed the spray paints and sprayed it Pink

I loved how the Infusions darkened the pink giving different values to the piece and creating some depth.

I knew now it had to be one of these fabulous girls which I painted with watercolours and added shading with Pencils

Added my sentiment and time was up. I had 3 mins spare so not bad! Let's take a last look.

Masterboard

Hello everyone, today I'm over at Country View Crafts where I showed a Masterboard and what I made from it, all which can be seen below.

Do you ever create Masterboards? They are so handy to have a ready background to use for your crafty makes as I show here on this post. I think I first came across Masterboards on the Paper Artsy blog when Jo Firth Young showed how to make with her lovely stamps.

I didnt use feature stamps on my mine but you could quite easily, instead I used a few background stamps Here's how I created mine!

I keep my Fresco Acrylic Paints by Paper Artsy in the middle draw of a plastic set of 3, and for this project I challenge myself by just reaching in and pulling out 4 colours at Random and this is what I got!

Quite a nice mix I thought!

I applied the colours in no particular order using a small brayer. I wanted a grungy look and was pleased how this came out.

I added some script and texture stamps again randomly over the page which was a 12x12 heavyweight card stock. Although I liked this, I wanted to warm it up a bit and so chose Tikka Fresco Acrylic and a bottle top stamped randomly adding the colour.

I do apologise for the blurry photo but wanted to show some of what I cut from the 1 sheet. I actually managed to get 2
card backgrounds a Tag, a book mark and 4 ATCs not bad! The strips that I cut off will also come in handy to use in collage pieces.

Here are some of the projects I made which you can see in the main photo at the top!

See how versatile they can be!
Hope you liked seeing how to make this if you have any questions please leave in the comments.

Take care everyone and stay Creative

Hot colours

Hello crafty friends,  I've been playing in my journal and thought I'd share this very colourful page. I made the background quite a while back, when I was in a wild carefree mood.  The colours and patterns flowed with ease, as I wasn't thinking about creating something, I was playing. I had nothing in mind when I started and wasn't over keen on what I created but at that time it didn't matter, as I had really enjoyed the process. I really wasn't keen on it so left it alone. Until today that is! I fancied having a play with one of my images and after printed it off and cutting it out I flipped through my journal and found the background page. I knew it was perfect!

Using Andy
Skinner Stencils I started building the
layers.

The paints were Dina Wakley Media Line
As I wanted a heavy bodied Acrylic.

I kept the colours similar using those next to
Each other on the colour wheel.

Using my fingers I quickly painted in
the
Flowers and leaves. I then outlined them
using
a tip applicator.

I added some doodles with a white Gel Pen.

The image can be purchased from my Etsy Store, don't forget you you can get a free download this month in a Mixed Up Mag.

I so enjoyed finding a way to use the page, don't just love it when these things come together!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you soon

ATCs

Hello everyone, thanks for popping in! Did you see the the discussion we started on what to do when your inspiration goes on holiday? If you missed it or would like to have your say please follow this link.

Today on the blog I'm sharing a pocket letter which the lovely Chris Cresswell challenged us to make and then swap with members in the group who wish to participate. I had never heard of a pocket letter before, and so intrigued, I had to investigate! Well, I loved what I found, and couldn't wait to play along. I am going to enter this into Craft Stamper take it make challenge this month which Anything Goes.

Hidden somewhere in a pocket there is also a message for the person receiving my pocket. There weren't many rules, we just had to choose a theme. I started by drawing some flowers and painting them with shimmering watercolours.

The idea was, that the flowers would act as a background, but to be honest I didn't like them and so was stuck! After much thought
I decided to turn them over over and let inspiration fill my mind. It didn't quite work like that though, as I sat there searching every corner of my mind for a tiny glimmer, a butterfly fluttered onto my table. Actually I'd dislodge a little box I keep bits and pieces in, and the whole lot tipped onto my table including the butterfly! Well that was it, I had my theme, and it pretty much flowed from there!

Several times my choices seemed to be over powered by another force. On one card I tried to attach the word Cherish, but before it was stuck fast, I managed to knock it off, never to be found! Instead the word blessed showed itself so I used it instead. Another instance was when I was trying to get some gems out of their tray. I wanted round Pearl like ones, and what I got was blue squares, so again I went with it. I love these little things that happen as they feed my imagination of art creating itself, or we create to some inner dance that needs life lol.

Here are a few shots of how they developed, I used such a mix of bits and pieces that I couldn't begin to tell you where they are all from, as most were loose in my draw or just in a plastic bag. However, the Stencils were from That's Crafty and many of the gems and emphera came from Artful Days and in particular from a goodie box which is filled with fabulous bit. You can check them out here

And a few close ups of my favourites

And here they are in their pockets

I must admit I think I'm addicted now.

If you would like to see them all in close up why not pop over to my Pinterest page where you will be about to see them!

Take care

Quick journal page

Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to visit me today, I hope you like a quick journal page I completed last week. I have found it difficult to create the last few weeks, having very little inspiration and even trying my 'go to' journal didn't help much. I don't often struggle so it has been frustrating to say the least. I've started several pieces then become bored or think it's rubbish and dump it into my try again later pile, which is currently huge.

Do you ever feel this way? I would love to know what sparks your creativity or what you do to get it going again, so please leave your thoughts in the comments and let's have a discussion!

Anyway I had a play and came up with this!

I used my tiny shapped  Jelly plate and Fresco Acrylic Paint from Paper Artsy to create this unique background. I applied the paint and then
Gently made patterns on the plate then stamped them onto the page. I chose colours randomly at first, then once I got the effect I wanted
I went for colours that would contrast.

The picture below shows more contrast and I have also used my Stencil in places

Once I was happy, I moved on to the feature! I used white as I wasn't sure at this stage whether I would use colour or not on the flowers.

I chose to paint one and leave the others white! I added the white circles to pull it all together.

I used a black pen around the flowers and added some dots.

A close up!

Well that's it for now!

Take care hugs
