Journal style card

Hello everyone, I’ve been playing with watercolours again lately, and I’m definitely in love with their versatility. Over the last year they have become my favourite medium for all my creative needs. Today I created a grungy card in a style I would usually use in my journal but thought it would work as a card too. So here it is and then I’ll walk you through how I created it.

Sorry the lights not great but it’s hard to get anything completed before it’s dark now days. So I started with the background by wetting the card with clean water, then started to add the colours. I used a mix of Daniel Smith and Sennelier watercolour paints, both are on my palette, as I love both makes. I made a small puddle of each colour and dropped it onto the wet card.

Wet in wet - When you drop paint onto a wet surface it’s spreads and runs allowing for more accurate blending,

For this make I left hard edges and allowed it to cauliflower (technical term) as it adds interest, however, if you were using the paint traditionally you would blend out the hard edges.

Once the background was dry I used Old Page stamp from Rubber Dance with Archival ink in Plum randomly over the page. I used a light pressure in some areas and heavier in others. This creates added interest.

I then stamped my focal point da Vinci Body Sketch from Rubber Dance. I love this stamp as it has many creative uses. For this card I kept it simple. I chose my light to come from the right side so added a shadow on the left side. Again working wet in wet, I softened the edge of where I added the paint to blend it slightly. Using the shadow in this way gives a more 3D affect.

To finish I added a sentiment, aged the edges, and mounted it onto kraft card. Keeping the mount simple allowed the image to take centre stage.

Challenge reminder

Happy Sunday everyone, today I’m sharing a beautiful Dream Catcher designed by Melina for Rubber Dance and I’ve used it in this post to remind you of the current challenge, which runs to end of the month, so still plenty of time to enter.

So I started with a wet in wet technique by wetting my watercolour card and then dropping colour onto the wet card.
The water travels across the page randomly, or as I like to think it goes to where it wants to be lol.

I dried the page  thoroughly and then with blue gold added lots of splashes, I load my brush with lots of colour and then tap the brush on my other hand over the areas I want the paint. The bigger the brush the larger the splashes. ( sorry for the focal point being out of focus, I was trying to show the gold)

Then I stamped the focal point and the little elements randomly round the page. I mounted this onto gold card before adding it to a card

Hope you like it

Something simple for Rubber Dance

Hello everyone, happy Sunday! Today I have a quick and simple card to share with you, that I created for the Rubber Dance blog.

Here’s how I created it
Choose a flower stamp (I chose this from Flower Power), and stamp in a line diagonally down a piece of card which you have
cut to fit your card.

Carefully cut around just one side of your flowers

Use your favourite colour to act as a mat for your card and attach. Using Alcohol inks, mine were Nuvo from Tonic Studio (which I am loving by the way, a really good set of pens which won’t break the bank) and colour your flowers. Once dry attach to your mat.

TOP TIP!
Once you have finished your colouring in, with a very black pen carefully add a line to white area between flowers
where you have cut,  as above. It gives a more finished look to the cut area.

Lastly add you sentiment mounted onto more coloured card and using dimensional tape fix to your card.
Let’s have a last look

Sew sweet

Hello everyone I’m here today to share this sweet card I made as reminder for the February challenge over on the Rubber Dance blog.

And here’s how!

I started with Brushos which I dried and then started my stamping. This set is Sew Sweet designed by my friend Katy Leitch for Rubber Dance.

I used the Brushos on my craft Mat to add colour to the different elements.

I am addicted to gold splashes at the moment so of course I added a few

I added some crystals to another piece of card so that I could stamp and cut out some buttons

And there it is

The stamps can be purchased from the shop and if you use this code DWFreeShip you will get free shipping when you spend over €15

I hope you enjoyed this post and would love to read your comments

Using Fresco Finish Acrylic From Paper Artsy and a brayer I applied the paint in layers
Colours used, Hey Pesto Smurf and Blue Glass

I then covered the page with Vintage script

Next I added the feature which is Dancing Woman

Around the feature I added the leaves from Crazy flowers 2

The sentiment is from a great set called Adore me

I coloured it all in with big Brush Pens from Fabre Castell and the Gold is from

Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi 6 Colour Set Starry Colours.

Wonderful colours in this months Challenge

Hello Everyone today I’m over on the Rubber Dance blog with a reminder of this months Challenge. Only one theme all month so simple right!

And this month there two fabulous prizes
1st prize randomly picked €50
2nd prize DT fave €25

So a definite must to join in.

Here is my interpretation of the theme

So to start I smooched some colour onto the background I using the colours of the theme (Golden Fluid Acrylic)

For a little interest I  dropped some fluid Ink in Fluorescent Pink and Opal White (Golden) then dried it with a heat gun.

Now I start to add my stamps Crazy Flowers 1 and 2.  First the leaves, which I think I’m in love with as they are showing up in
Many of my projects. I gave them two coats of Pitt Pens from Fabre Castell.

Then the beautiful flowers

Again painted with the pens. Once dry I tidied up the lines with a black pen.

Lastly I added a white Gel Pen to add highlights.

Let’s have another look...

All stamps are in the shop

Take care everyone and I’ll see you later in Month
