Retro cards

Hi everyone just a quick post to show how I created some Retro cards

All the backgrounds are green or blue Bistre.

I then drew out my design, all except the reindeer were just out of my head, for the reindeer I used a reference photo.

I painted the design in white acrylic so that the colours were bright

I repeated the process for all cards

Once I was satisfied with all I mounted them onto a plain white card.

I hope you like them as I love them, and I loved creating them too!

Take care, hugs

Composite play

Hello everyone today in sharing a quick post about some of my digital work. I've taken many of Ivy Newport and Robin Laws online classes but two in focus today are Paint and Pixel and Mobile Magic. Both are using digital art but in slightly different ways. Today I'm focusing on Composite Art.

I used several images from royalty starting free stock but of course you can use your own photos or artwork or a mixture in any combination.  I've used 6 different photos and the apps I've used are Procreate Stackables, Repix and Brush strokes and Distressed FX. I pulled all my photos into Procreate on different layers so that I can manipulate each piece individually.
Here are some snaps of the different stages

Then into Repix where I added some colour and visual texture

Then into DistressedFX to tone it down and add the Birds.

Then back to Procreate to add the words

Here is a quick video from Procreate

Finally I took it into Stackables where it got its purple colour. I stopped there as I wanted to keep it simple but you could continue to add pieces to your art, all of which will change it in some way.

I hope you like this, if you have any questions please leave in the comments or email me.
Take care hugs

Alcohol inks

Hello everyone, here are again another Sunday evening! The weekends just goes far too quick, it often feels like I'm dumping my bag on Friday once home, spin around and it's Monday again. I guess it's the same more many of us, and I know it's not first time I've mentioned it lol. Onto the reason for my post, over at Paper Artsy the current challenge is Alcohol Ink and Pens; inspired by the challenge and in particular Ruth Mescall's post from a few nights ago. I loved what Ruth did and come up with my own version. I'll be entering this into the challenge.

After spending about two hours looking for my alcohol inks I gave up and used my sharpies instead! So I scribbled some colours onto Yupo and dripped blending solution over randomly also allowing it to drip.

I repeated the above steps

I then stuck the Yupo to a #6 tag and again with sharpies I doodled.

I then mounted the tag on black card and added 3 acrylic blocks

To finish I added the sentiment and a ribbon.

I like how it came out and hope you do to.
That's all from me,
Take care

Not your usual tools

Hello everyone, thanks for popping in today, as I'm sharing a journal page I created. I was I nspired by the new challenge in the fabulous year long workshop Wanderlust 2016. We were asked to be creative using tools that usually have another purpose. So here's my page.

The tools I used

Here we go!

I chose a page on which I had started a sketch. I started by using the grill panel as a stencil, with crackle paste applied randomly on the page.  I'd  saved the grill from a portable barbecue we used in the summer. I've had it rusting in the garden wrapped in some material so that the colour was transferred.

I used Dina Wakley Media paints and applied them first with pieces of the bark, and then the ball from my potpourri was rolled in paint and then rolled onto the page. I continued building up layers experimenting with the different items and colours. I placed the grill plate back on top of the paste and with DecoArt Media mists added anther layer.

To add some contrast I used Titanium White heavy bodied acrylic To make circles. First with my kitchen sink's plug and then a pasty cutter. I loved the fluted edge I got from the cutter, it added a different look?

I worked on the face some more, with Prima Water Soluble Oil Pastels, and then painted her hair in black to add more contrast along with the white.  Finally I added a little Metallic Lustre over the crackle to add more interest.

I really enjoyed experimenting with the different pieces and will definitely be on the look out for more ordinary item; it's like looking at familiar items in a completely different way.

Over the weekend I will post some details about the Composite Art I have been creating with a tutorial to show the basic of how these fabulous pieces of art can be created. So hope you can join me, have a lovely weekend and stay creative.

Wandering Star

hello everyone, today see the start of a new challenge at Country View Crafts and theme this month is Stars chosen for us by the lovely Rachel.  What a great theme! The team have put together some lovely creations to get you in the mood, so come on have a play, and if you are the Winn you will receive a lovely voucher to spend in the shop.   My piece as usual is a journal page

I used white Gesso and while still wet stroked Fresco Acrylic from Paper Artsy into the Gesso which gave a lovely effect. I could pull the colours about and leave some of the white showing.

Once it was dry I painted in the trees again using the lovely chalky paints from Paper Artsy. These are such a versatile Acrylics and my definitely my go to paints.  The stars are from Lin Browns new stamp plate ELB 30 I then added the high lights with a white gel pen. To darken the bottom slightly I rub in some paint with my fingers where needed.   Well that all for now but pop back later tonight as I have another post to share. Hugs Debsxxx
