Cup of tea for Paper Artsy

Hello friends and followers, there are changes afoot, ‘oh what’s she up to now I hear you ask?’ Well I’m bored with the format of my blog and was seriously thinking that I might close it. The repetition of making something and then sharing it here, is so last year! But I do enjoy sharing what I make so I have decided to change things and see how it goes.

What to expect - I want the blog to be more personal, more chatty and not just be about my makes so I will be sharing more of me and less tutorials (more about those later) I still share what I make but it will be just be a photo. The more detailed stuff will be shared in a different format but I tell you more about all  that at a later date.

Today I’m sharing a journal page I made for the Paper Artsy blog - all the details can be found here  there are some new tips on achieving a great background so worth a visit.

Bye for now xxx

Challenge reminder

Happy Sunday everyone, today I’m sharing a beautiful Dream Catcher designed by Melina for Rubber Dance and I’ve used it in this post to remind you of the current challenge, which runs to end of the month, so still plenty of time to enter.

So I started with a wet in wet technique by wetting my watercolour card and then dropping colour onto the wet card.
The water travels across the page randomly, or as I like to think it goes to where it wants to be lol.

I dried the page  thoroughly and then with blue gold added lots of splashes, I load my brush with lots of colour and then tap the brush on my other hand over the areas I want the paint. The bigger the brush the larger the splashes. ( sorry for the focal point being out of focus, I was trying to show the gold)

Then I stamped the focal point and the little elements randomly round the page. I mounted this onto gold card before adding it to a card

Hope you like it

TV samples pt 2

Hello everyone, hope you are all well and surviving the lovely weather. I must admit I’m loving it, which is a first for many years as hormones the last few years made it virtually impossible to enjoy even warm days let alone scorching hot ones, but thanks HRT patches I’m back to being a sun worshipper. I do however sympathise with those that are struggling. My advice is to drink loads (our bodies retain fluid if we don’t drink enough, which leads to swollen limbs etc, which in turn makes us miserable). Wear lose clothing in natural fibres, a nice floppy hat is useful to provide wearable shade, and finding shady spots in the garden, during the hottest hours all help to keep our body temperature down.

Anyway onto the reason for my post, I’m sharing some more samples I made for Chocolate Baroque’s TV shows on Hochanda last month.

First we have this altered door handle plaque

Using elements from Blossom and Grow

And then this card

Stay tuned as I’ll be back soon with more creative projects

Take care

I’ve gone all Paper Artsy for Country View Crafts

Morning everyone today I’m sharing my second post for this month challenge over at Country View Crafts with my take on garden flowers. All products are from Paper Artsy.

So I started with a background using Fresco Finish Acrylic Paint first using a brayer, on top of which a stencil by Sara Naumann 090

Then built up my focal point using the lovely Kay Carey stamp plate 13

To achieve the look,

I first stamped the main flowers with a stamp platform then painted the flowers with Snowflake Fresco, once dry I restamped the images, then used Pitt pens from Fabre Castell to add finishing touches.

Let’s take another look

Hope you like this card

Take care everyone

TV samples part 1

Hello everyone, I’m honoured to share some of the samples I created for Chocolate Baroque’s Hochanda show last month, where the lovely Lesley and Judith introduced the new Cacti stamps. Over the next few of weeks I will be sharing my contribution starting with these two.

 The Cacti Garden
Using elements from Blossom and GrowCaptivating Cacti, and Scrumptious Succulents I created this garden by stamping and fussy cutting out the elements and then using Fabre Castell Pitt Pens, brought them to life.

Framed Cacti
Using elements from  Scrumptious Succulents on to a crackle background on the frame and the  flower focal elements has been painted with
Watercolours

Nature’s Garden

Hello everyone, today starts the new challenge over at Country View Crafts and today Jane chose Garden Flowers. What a wonderful subject for the summer month of July. Hopefully you will you have experienced our glorious summer so far, as here in my little village snuggled between the Cumbrian mountains and the Pennines it has shone non stop for over a month. I feel truly blessed to sit in my garden surrounded by such glorious nature.

One of the things I have enjoyed very much while driving around this beautiful County is the daisies growing everywhere and in abundance. They are all over the fields, in peoples gardens but most of all on many of the roads verges. As you drive along there are carpets of white everywhere. There is a particular wonderful display as you drive from Penrith towards Keswick, with the mountains in the backdrop, the rolling hills and then the carpets of daisies all of which make a truly gorgeous picture, and it is this that has inspired my first piece for this month.

This very loose water painting was built in layers, but very simple to do. Below are some shots of the progress.

I hope you are inspired to play along in this months Challenge especially as you could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend in the wonderful
