Playing with Brushos

Hello Everyone, just a quicky today to share some Brusho fun. I’ve had my Brushos for ages and done the usual mixed media stuff with them which is fabulous and you can create some beautiful affects. If you are new to Brushos you can find them here.

Well recently I come across Joanne Boon Thomas who has lots of video of how to use them as watercolour paints, which of course they are, only in powder form, and this has opened up a whole new world for me. So when the urge to paint a picture of faeries for a friend I decided to use Brushos as my medium.

The original sketch was created by my friend Amy and given to me to paint. As the original was on copier paper I drew my interpretation onto hot press watercolour paper

And using only Brushos and a black pen  I painted the picture, here are a few process shots

And another look at the finished piece

I hope you like this as much as I had fun creating it.

Take care everyone

Wonderful colours in this months Challenge

Hello Everyone today I’m over on the Rubber Dance blog with a reminder of this months Challenge. Only one theme all month so simple right!

And this month there two fabulous prizes
1st prize randomly picked €50
2nd prize DT fave €25

So a definite must to join in.

Here is my interpretation of the theme

So to start I smooched some colour onto the background I using the colours of the theme (Golden Fluid Acrylic)

For a little interest I  dropped some fluid Ink in Fluorescent Pink and Opal White (Golden) then dried it with a heat gun.

Now I start to add my stamps Crazy Flowers 1 and 2.  First the leaves, which I think I’m in love with as they are showing up in
Many of my projects. I gave them two coats of Pitt Pens from Fabre Castell.

Then the beautiful flowers

Again painted with the pens. Once dry I tidied up the lines with a black pen.

Lastly I added a white Gel Pen to add highlights.

Let’s have another look...

All stamps are in the shop

Take care everyone and I’ll see you later in Month

I was inspired!

Hello Everyone, I recently joined an online art retreat and have been having fun watching the fabulous artists sharing their tips and tricks. I do love these kinds of workshops as depending on what mood I’m in I pretty much guaranteed to fins a class to appeal.

If you are interested Ive added a link at the bottom of the page. The artist I was inspired by is called Galia Alena, I won’t give you the details of the class for obvious reasons but do check out her website, I’m sure you will love her art. This was of course created in my style but the ideas an inspiration came from the class.

Below are the process shots, I used Golden Fluid Acrylics and Fabre Castell Artist Pitt Pens for shading.

Phew after that lot here’s another look at the finished piece.

I really enjoyed painting her, not my normal colours but that’s what it all about right!

Take care

New Challenge for Country View Crafts

Hello Everyone today I’m over on the Country View Craft blog with my post for this months theme. It was my turn to choose  and as it is December we had to have Christmas but this year you can also have Red Green with Rust. So huge possibilities! I hope you can join in with us and play along, as you could be in with a chance to win a voucher to spend in the fabulous shop.

So here is my piece

Here are some process shots

So I used a large MDF tag, cogs and heart (from Samantha K Gifts) all adhered with Heavy Matt Medium (Golden) and let them dry over over night.

I then used Limestone Stone Medium (Prima) painted all over, and when dry I added paint from the Patina set (Prima) and brown Rust (Prima) and again let it dry. I then added the metallic paint from the Patina set to the main area.
To finish I added some red from Dina Wakley onto the tag as well as painting the heart(Prima)
And there you have it.

The challenge runs through to the 31st and I would love to see what you make.

Take care

My second post for This months challenge

Hello Everyone today I have my second post for Country View Crafts challenge which this month is Stencils, I couldn’t resist using Boho Jane a stencil that I designed.

This simple tag was composed by using Distress Oxide, which I smooched together and then sprinkled and flicked water in differing amounts
Then stencilled Jane in black ink and heat set. I used a background stencil to add more interest and then added some stick on sentiments designed by the lovely Marta Łapkowska for 13@rts.

Here are a few process shots

See you again soon

Take care
