What a wonderful day

Morning everyone and thanks for stopping by. I had a wonderfully busy day yesterday Thanks to the lovely Alison Hall and Laura and Graham from That's Crafty. Yes I attended Alison's fabulous workshop. This was her debut but I'm sure she will be doing more in the future because she is a natural. So if you see one advertised sign up quick because you will not be dissapointed.

And... I finally met one of my playmates in crime lol, the fabulously talented Donna Gray of  Inky and Quirky. We are already on one Design Team together and soon to be on two, Shhhhh hint hint. It was lovely to meet her and she is every bit as nice in person as she is in blog land.  We had a lovely chat, before it was time for MeV to go back and play.

I was really pleased that we didn't have to follow Alison prescriptively as I do like to add my own little touches, and when I saw the lovely selection of die cuts we had been provided by Laura & Graham, I was in my element. You see I really wanted to enter the challenge at Anything but Cute as it is owned by a lovely lady whom many of you will know, Pamellia  from My Little Crafty Things  the challenge blog is Anything but Cute The Theme is Vintage Garden so I had this in mind when creating my first Page.

We made two A5ish sized journal pages using Gellatos as the main medium. I have a set but don't use them nearly enough so this was a real treat to get to play with them again.

Here are the other lovely ladies who played along.

And the finished page

We then had group shots so I didn't take any more photos.

I really enjoyed myself and it was lovely to get to know Alison a little better.
See you all soon.

Tim's May Tag ... My Way

Hello everyone, thanks for coming to see my Tag. I hope you all are having a good Saturday. I've had a fab day with Alison Hall in her first ever workshop, but I'll tell you all about that in another post.

So here we are right at the end of May and I'm only just thinking about Tim's Tag. I remember having a quick look at the beginning and cannot quite believe how quick the month has gone.

I followed Tim's Makes pretty much just changes elements to my taste and substituting where necessary. You can see Tim's here . So sit back and have look at the photos. I would love to know you have visited so please leave a comment below.

Journal Page

Hello to you all. I'm thrilled you are visiting because I have really enjoyed playing today.  It's not often I have a Friday off work, so it was lovely to be off today. It's Art It Friday over on Kim Dellow's Blog and that means it's face day, and so I thought I'd add a face to my page. I did kind of get carried away :).

I used DecoArt Products for this page starting with the Media Mists. Then using Andy Skinner Stencils and Media Fluids I added another layer.

The next layer was one of Andy Skinner's texture stamps.

Above you can see the start of the face.

Sorry more Daisys

Next came this

As I said at the start I loved creating this page. Do come back later as I have another journal to show. Big hugs Debsxxx

Dreaming TIO style

Evening everyone, thank you for coming by. Tonight when I came home, I was fortunate that my lovely husband had sorted dinner, so I had some time to play.

It's time for a new challenge over at Dragons Dreaming and so I thought I'd play along. I  loved all the team inspirations which you can see here, but I was particularly inspired by Julie Anne's colour and circles.

I found a tag which had already been painted purple, which was very handy. I'm still practicing my Daisys and thought the dark purple would be a perfect background for some more.

You can see that my circles are embossed with aged ochre Frantage. I painted my Daisy's with Chalk Fresco Acrylic from Paper Artsy

For the next coat I added a tiny amount of Tinned Peas Fresco; just enough to tint the White.

I finished the flowers and added some stamping from one of Emma Godfreys stamps from Paper Artsy in white to the middle of the circles. And then tied on a ribbon.

I gave the Tag a trim with some great scissors to add something different.

Sorry if I'm getting boring with the Daisys but I cannot stop. I am so loveing painting them at the moment and I do need the practice, lol.  Take care and I'll see you soon.

Daisies

Hi everyone, thanks for coming to see my daisie. All day I have had daisies running through my head after watching a few clips on you tube. I started to practice once I got home in my journal. I used DecoArt Americana range acrylic paint and a 1/2in flat brush.

I saw on The Mixed Media Monthly Challeneg that Flowers are their theme so im entering this into their challenge.

I just painted the flowers randomly over the page. I also practiced some leaves, and bamboo I didn't like the flowers very much but I wasn't bothered.

As I looked  at the pages over a cuppa, I had the idea of spraying ink to cover the white areas and chose colour bloom as I didn't want to cover the page just add some colour. Well!  I loved how it turned out, and that was that I was off...        I don't have many photos sorry!

I just continued to build up daisie until I got to this

The otherside before spraying

Bit of mess! but it wasn't intended as a creation, just a practice. After the spray which I kept the same colours as the other and a couple more layers on the flowers it got to this.

So as a double page it's like this

I'm looking forward playing with the otherside tomorrow. But here's another piccy of the finished page.

Hope you like it as much I do. Big hugs Debs xx

Terracotta to Rust

Hello everyone, thank you for coming to see what I have to share today, I hope you all have been enjoying your weekend wherever you are, and whatever you have been doing.

We have been very busy bees. Our loft is getting cleared. Hooray! We have cleared two carfuls so far which is a fair bit. All the paper and now all the clothes that I have been saving for the day when I can get back into them. Truth is even if I did manage to get back to the size I used to be I probably wouldn't want to wear the clothes I'd saved. So off to recycling for charities they went.

It was a good feeling and so when we got back I went to play and played for the rest of the afternoon.

Products I used are all from  DecoArt except the Vaseline.

All Purpose Sealer
Cadmium Red Hue Media Fluid
Cerulean Blue         Media Fluid
Carbon Black          Media Fluid
Quinacridone Gold  Media Fluid

Texture Sand Paste Media Range
Crackle Paint          Media Range
Red Oxide Antiquing Cream Media Range

While going through the loft I have found some fab pieces to alter, this terracotta watering can, being one of them. Below you can see where I've added a coat of the sealer and then painted on some dark areas randomly around the middle, handle and spout.

I added Vaseline to act as a resist in areas where I wanted the paint to show through. I painted a generous coat of Crackle Paint all over and allowed it to dry. I got some great crackle, and where the Vaseline was the paint came off very easily. I used Antiquing Cream  in the cracks and the wiped off with a damp cloth.

Where the crackle paint was removed I added some texture sand and then dabbed Black over the sand. The second and third coats were in Quinacridone Gold. This was also dragged across the crackle in places using a damp wipe.

I went round the whole piece using the same techniques until I felt I had enough ageing. I had a plant ready to plant in it once it was finished.

If I were to do this again I would go for less rust, but it looks good in its place on the Patio. I would love to read your thoughts.

Big hugs, and bye for now. Debs xxx

And it was

Morning everyone, just a quickly as I was so tired last night I fell asleep. Now don't laugh I is getting older you know. Anyway we have a winner who hit nail on the head.
Yes Lin it is a heart shaped candleholder and it is now yours.

Here is  how I made it - all products are generously provided by DecoArt

I took a plain bisque piece and painted the top with Media fluids in turquoise I applied a thick coat around the edge and then spritz with water letting it run down. I used a contrasting colour for the inside.

I finished the project by adding interference paint in purple on the top and then used metallic lustre champagne on the rims

It is difficult to position it for photos.

Lin will also receive

Again painted with DecoArt products. I painted the flowers and then rubbed them vpback to give an aged look.

I will also add in some bits for Lin to play with.

Thanks for stopping by. I'll see you soon take care
