New Challenge on Old New & Digital Too

Good evening everyone thanks for joining me today where I have posted not one but two posts.

My Project - All DecoArt Products

Old - For my project I used a 6x6 board which I have had for a long time. I thought it would be perfect for my project. I covered the board in Weather Wood from DecoArt and once dry I sprayed it with a Media Mist in Yellow Green.

I loved how it crackled when dry. I added more Spray this time in Blue.

Next I added some Quinacridone Violet randomly over the board to add some different interest.

New – for the new part of my project I chose a heart which I had recently purchased and following Andy Skinner’s method, I aged the heart and then stamped on a sentiment.

I took a new key and covered it in Sand Paste and when dry coated it with Media Fluid in Black and then two coats of Quinacridone Gold, for the perfect rust look.

Digital - I took an old face creation and updated her by adding her to a word background. I did this on an App on my iPad called Wordfoto. I printed onto tissue paper and then added it to my background.

I found some old washer style thingy’s that would look fab as a contrast to the rust.

Then assembled all my bits. Ta Dah!

That’s it for today, have fun over the weekend and I’ll see you again soon.

Sending love out to all you lovely crafters. Debs xxx

All that Glitters

Hello and welcome to all my followers, and if anybody is new, stay a while and have a look around.

Today is a new challenge over at That's Crafty Challenge Blog and the Theme is,  All That Glitters. So come on get those sparkles and glitters out and have a play. The winner receives

Here is my inspiration for today's challenge, please go check out all the other Design Team's
projects for more fabulous inspiration.

I started  by sealing a 6"x6" board and once dry, painted on a liberal coat of crackle paint. I left this to dry and carried on with my feature.

I added  Texture Sand in random places onto an MDF butterfly. I covered the sand with Media Fluid in Black, and once dry Quinacridone Violet.

Once  the crackle paint was dry I used a  stencil and crackle paste to add flowers to my board. I added to the ageing look with Antiquing Cream rubbed over the background in Patina and Burnt Umber.

Here you can see a close up of the crackle. I picked some bits of crackle off the flowers as I wanted to add something different to them later.

I thought the background looked bare, so I used a background stamp to add some more texture.

For edges I used aged Ochre embossing powder. This formed a frame around the board and served to contain the butterfly

I added some rusty wire to the butterfly and stuck her to the board, then finished off with my sentiment, which was stamped onto smooth white card and ink distressed around the edges.

What I used
From DecoArt

All purpose Sealer
Crackle paint
Crackle Paste
Texture Sand
Media Fluids - Black, Quinacridone Violet
Glamour Dust
Andy Skinner stamps- industrial

Archival Ink - Black
Stampendous Frantage - Aged Ochre
From my stash - rusty wire, sentiment stamp, MDF butterfly.

Well that's it for now. Try and pop back later as I have another post going live about 5pm. Take care and I'll see you soon. Debs xx

Painting on wood

Hello everyone, thank you for your visit.  before I start, I just wanted to announce that I have another journal workshop coming up at Birds In The Barn in Marks Tey on June 20th starting at 10am. you can book your place here
Now! I've got a quickie today, inspired by the lovely Donna who loves to paint on wood.

Now this isn’t something I've tried a lot, so when my Hubby asked me to put two small pieces of wood into the car with the rest of the rubbish from the loft, I relocated them to studio.

The plaque was created using Fresco Acrylic paints from Paper Artsy, Prismacolor Pencils, and Colorbloom Sprays.

I’m entering this into
the Mixed Media Place DRAWING
Altered Eclectics           ANYTHING GOES

And I nearly forgot I'm linking my face to Kim Dellow's Art It Friday

I coated the surface in Vintage Lace as I wanted this as the base of the face. I then covered an area where my face would be with an oval mask and sprayed Colorbloom in Cotton Candy and Pressed Metal. Once dry I painted some flowers using snowflake Fresco. I left this to dry overnight.

I then sketched out my girl and added shadows and highlights in paint and then let it dry.

Using the pencils I added more shadows and highlights and added colour to her eyes and mouth.

Turning back to the paints I finished her off.

I think she has a cartoony look but like I her anyway.
Please come back tomorrow as I have another post ready with some good news.
Take care, all you lovely Arty People and I will see you soon.

What a wonderful day

Morning everyone and thanks for stopping by. I had a wonderfully busy day yesterday Thanks to the lovely Alison Hall and Laura and Graham from That's Crafty. Yes I attended Alison's fabulous workshop. This was her debut but I'm sure she will be doing more in the future because she is a natural. So if you see one advertised sign up quick because you will not be dissapointed.

And... I finally met one of my playmates in crime lol, the fabulously talented Donna Gray of  Inky and Quirky. We are already on one Design Team together and soon to be on two, Shhhhh hint hint. It was lovely to meet her and she is every bit as nice in person as she is in blog land.  We had a lovely chat, before it was time for MeV to go back and play.

I was really pleased that we didn't have to follow Alison prescriptively as I do like to add my own little touches, and when I saw the lovely selection of die cuts we had been provided by Laura & Graham, I was in my element. You see I really wanted to enter the challenge at Anything but Cute as it is owned by a lovely lady whom many of you will know, Pamellia  from My Little Crafty Things  the challenge blog is Anything but Cute The Theme is Vintage Garden so I had this in mind when creating my first Page.

We made two A5ish sized journal pages using Gellatos as the main medium. I have a set but don't use them nearly enough so this was a real treat to get to play with them again.

First page

Here are the other lovely ladies who played along.

Second Page

And the finished page

We then had group shots so I didn't take any more photos.

I really enjoyed myself and it was lovely to get to know Alison a little better.
See you all soon.

Hello everyone, thanks for coming to see my Tag. I hope you all are having a good Saturday. I've had a fab day with Alison Hall in her first ever workshop, but I'll tell you all about that in another post.

So here we are right at the end of May and I'm only just thinking about Tim's Tag. I remember having a quick look at the beginning and cannot quite believe how quick the month has gone.

I followed Tim's Makes pretty much just changes elements to my taste and substituting where necessary. You can see Tim's here . So sit back and have look at the photos. I would love to know you have visited so please leave a comment below.

Journal Page

Hello to you all. I'm thrilled you are visiting because I have really enjoyed playing today.  It's not often I have a Friday off work, so it was lovely to be off today. It's Art It Friday over on Kim Dellow's Blog and that means it's face day, and so I thought I'd add a face to my page. I did kind of get carried away :).

I used DecoArt Products for this page starting with the Media Mists. Then using Andy Skinner Stencils and Media Fluids I added another layer.

The next layer was one of Andy Skinner's texture stamps.

Above you can see the start of the face.

Sorry more Daisys

Next came this

As I said at the start I loved creating this page. Do come back later as I have another journal to show. Big hugs Debsxxx
