New Challenge over at That's Crafty

Hello everyone thanks for your visit today. Phew it's been a busy week! Still the weekend is almost here and hopefully I'll get some rest.

I'm pleased it's a bit cooler here as I write this, the flushes are coming thick and fast, lol. Anyway onto what I have to share today.

Over at That's crafty it's a new challenge and the theme is Stencils, tying with the release of the Dinky Stencils, which you can find in That's Crafty store or their online Shop.

There is lots of inspiration over on the blog as my very talented team mates have some fantastic makes to share with you. And if that's not enough to wet your appetite to enter you could also win the £20 voucher. 

                                   

So for my inspiration I used an A5 canvas board which I sprayed with White and Blue Media Mist from DecoArt and let them run and  mix together.

                         

Next came stencils by Andy Skinner in black an dark green 

                                             

I sprayed the words with water to soften the look and added stamping randomly 

                                    

Next came the Dinky Stencils and Craft Paste 

             

The main feature is stamps by Oxford Impressions 

                                   

I finished off my adding some Champagne Metalic Lustre.

Thats's Crafty have their own Stencils

Hello everyone, and welcome to our three new followers. Thank you for joining us on my crafting journey.

I've been really busy these last few weeks as I was privileged in being able to play with That's Crafty's new stencils which they have launched this week. Today its my turn to show you what I've been up to. Here is a sneak peek of some of my designs; to see them fully please visits That's Crafty. On Your Travels...

...Is the current theme over on the Country View Challenges blog. 

Hello and welcome to this, my first post as a Design Team Member for Country View Challenges. I am so thrilled to be joining their amazing team and soooo excited. I'm also very scared! Lol!

The theme is running to the end of the month so you still have lots of time to enter the challenge; for more inspiration please visit my very talented team mates over on the blog here.

July is a good month to travel and a great time for me, being in my garden craft room. My imagination went wild and so here is my post card which has travelled around the world. 

                    

It is a bit battered, and as you can see below, the other side is just as bad.

The story Goes...

The original layer can be traced back to early 1900s in England and is thought to have been from a young woman to her sweetheart. There are remnants of a photo of a woman on a bike. 

Below you can just make out her head.

                    

The other layers seem to be a mystery, nothing much can be found about them. It looks as if the card was painted over at some time and probably done in India. It has cracked, exposing areas underneath. On top of that, it looks likes a picture, which had been painted or stamped, you can just make out some butterflies. This is similar to paintings found in some Inca pyramids.

However, there are clear stamp marks where the paint has flaked off. These marks are common in Europe.

Yet the card was discovered in Africa, like I say a mystery.

Fantasy over!

The bottom layer is a card from Tim Holtz. I used Vaseline in areas that I wanted to resist paint, then thickly painted Crackle Paint from DecoArt. Once dry I rubbed all the areas where the Vaseline sat, and the paint flaked off. I'm sorry there aren't more photos but I got carried away.

Alot of the ageing was achieved using Walnut Stain Distress Ink from Tim Holtz I also used Archival Ink for the stamping.

I really enjoyed creating this card, thinking of the stories it would have seen over the years. I hope you like too. Hope to see you tomorrow as I have another post to share. Take care all. Big hugs

New challenge at MMW and...

Hello everyone, and welcome to the first of a few posts this week. Before I begin I would like to say hello and welcome to my two new followers. It great that you have decided to join me on my journey, I love the company and really appreciate it when you leave a comment to let me know you popped over.

My first post today is to introduce the challenge over at Mixed Media World where our theme is Stencils's. 

                                     

This was chosen for us by the lovely Georgie  Do check out her blog for some fantastic art. But first, you must see the wonderful creations my team mates have made to inspire you all.  

And we have an amazing prize for you too from one of our fantastic sponsers That's Crafty who have very generously offered 10 Dinky Stencils. Dinky Stencils ? what are Dinkys I hear you ask! Well that's the news I have to share. That's Crafty have just today launched their very own stencils, and not just any kind of stencils, these are designed to work on any project where you want a small design. 

They are designed to fit over an ATC perfectly and layer up wonderfully. All this week you can see samples of the Stencils in action on my blog and on the blogs of the design Team. So let's not wait any longer. The next few photos show the progress of the piece with many of the stencils.

I used Dyan Reavery paints with wet and dry foam and to finish a Donna Downey Stencil. Background is created using the new Dinky stencils from That's Crafty 

                                

The board I'm using is also from that's Crafty. It's great for mixed media and all kinds of crafting. I have really put it through its paces and it responded wonderfully.

Friday's Face

Evening everyone, sorry it's so late but I wanted to get this posted today so that I could link it to Kim Dellow's Art it Friday, Show your Face. I haven't had time to play for a couple of weeks so I was pleased that I was able to play tonight.

I have made a short video of the different steps I took to get to my finished girl. I used Neo ll crayons from Caran D'Ache and titanium white acrylic from DecoArt.

Beads

Morning everyone, welcome to my crafty adventures which today is focused on an amazing weekend in Hebden Bridge. The Arts Festival ran from Thursday to Sunday. I saw saw some amazing art, and met some incredibly talented Artists. One in Particular Caroline Reed, whose art is really moving. 

The piece I'm going to show is disturbing, but very real. Caroline exhibits in London.

One of the other Genre's I was interested in was mixed media jewellery and I saw some amazing pieces and inspired me to make something myself which you can see below.

First though I have a blog give away. 

I'd like to see something you created yourself from scratch that you can wear in some way. It could be beads, or a broach, hair ornament or anything you fancy, as long as you can wear it. On my previous post you can see some scarfs I decorated. Only rules is it must be something you can wear and you have to created it. I will close the link at the end of the month so you have plenty of time.

Now the prize is a Dina Wakley stamp set. Somehow I ended up with two!

I had a go at making some paper beads, nothing perfect about them as I didn't take my time to measure the paper to ensure they were all the same size.  (I was away for the weekend afterall)

As you will see I did string them, but will probably unstring and then use them in my art. However they do give an idea of what creations can be made.

I used some old gelly prints which I didn't like but kept thinking I might find a use. No steps but basically cut the paper into small thin triangles and starting from the big edge rolled them round a thin paint brush. Once they were finished I coated each one with Sparkle Modge Podge.

Here are a few things I learnt in this process.

Add some colour to the edges of the backside to prevent this, see the White inside.

Cut the paper all the same some size, so your beads are the same size.

Use the same thickness of paper 

You could also use plain paper and paint them, the possibilities are endless.

A little different for a Saturday morning.

Morning you crafty lot, and welcome! How are you all? Well I hope and ready to enjoy your weekend.

Did you have thunder storms last? We did here in Halifax. Halifax? What's she doing there, I hear you ask! Well for weeks we had planned to come here for the weekend to enjoy some of the Arts Festival at Hebden Bridge. Well it was a bit touch and go as I've had a sickness bug all week, but thankfully it has subsided, so we was able to make it.

So, I decided to join in on the fun by wearing a scarf I had created myself. Some time ago I purchased some plain white silk scarfs, with the idea of dyeing them myself.

Well I thought I'd design two, and of course as mum came to cat sit she got one for herself.

I used blue, turquoise, green and purple to create my base. Here are some shots after the dyeing process.

Once this process was complete I decided to hand paint some flowers.

Above, I scattered daisie all over in the same colour palette as the background.

On the other I painted a band of white Daisies at either end.

I shall be making more, what do you think?

New challenge at That's Crafty

Morning everyone and welcome. Thanks for popping by. Today I have a tag for you.

The new theme over at That's Crafty this week is 'Wishing on a star' there is some fanstastic inspiration from my wonderful teamies. My tag started with some UTEE in pearl to act as a resist and a Tim Holtz layering stencil 

            

                            

I then blended several distress inks over the stars.

                            

I first stamped my feature which is from Prima onto the card but felt it did not show enough 

                 

So stamped it again and my sentiment both coloured with the distress ink.

I had decided that I wanted to use some organza to tie my tag and as I had a piece left over i put the heat gun on it and this is what I got.

 You can just make out a little nest pocket at the top which I filled with a gem.

                               

I assembled my sentiment

     

All together.  

                                

A different take upon wishing for things, as sometimes what we wish for isn't really what we want, as this quote states,

Ooh different for me.

Hello everyone, and welcome my home on the web. I love sharing my creations with you all and when you leave a comment I shine lol. I love being part of this community and interacting with so many talented people. It blows me away sometimes with just how beautiful this community is with such special pieces of art being slaved over passionately and shared freely. If you think about it is amazing!

With that said here is my piece I created with a challenges in mind. Over at The Funky Junky  blog the new  theme is 'Say It'. Make your sentiment the focus. 

I took an old page I had started but never got anywhere with to use as my base.

 Above I am placing elements around to see where they look best. I didn't take many photos as I got carried away. I've included some close up so you can see some of the detail.

I created a frame around the centre part using Crackle Paint by DecoArt. I masked off several areas with Vaseline as I was after a peeled paint look. There are lots of videos on You Tube to demonstrate this.

I took a handful of paper flowers from my stash and sprayed them with Tea Stain Distress Stain by Ranger. For me they were too dark so I sprayed them with water and as they were drying dripped Acrylic Ink on them which gave me an effect with which I was okay. 

Above you can see some tiny roses and leaves which are from my hand carved stamps. I used Rose and Fern Archival Ink from Ranger.

As the feature is a focus on the words I placed my card more central. Both cards are from a Gilded Lily paper pad by Graphics 45. Around the words and several areas on the page I applied Metallic Lustre in Champaigne, from DecoArt. I also added some lace which had Potting Shed Archival Ink applied to some edges.

And altogether 

I hope you like this different page from me. I enjoyed completing it :)

Amongst the flowers
