Acrylic Play

Morning everyone, thank you for popping in. I'm squeezing this post in before the children wake up. We are having a bbq today to celebrate my grandson's 16th birthday so it will soon be full on here, getting ready.  just recently I played with lots of the new acrylic substrates released by That's Crafty. Today I'm going to share a journal. It has 3 acrylic pages and the MDF front and back.

The front page

Crackle medium, Finnabair melange Art Pebbles and Art Alchemy Mettalic Acrylic.

Page 1

Everything Art stamps, from Paper Artsy plus a sanscript stamp in the background. Dina Wakley Media Line, paints

Page two

I used a paper first to cover the working of the other side. That's Crafty New stencil and Grunge Paste from that Paper Artsy. I used stencils and Archival Ink on the background. Sanded down the Grunge Paste to bring back the white which actually looked like Ivory once finished.

Next page

This one I painted, I have some steps to show the process.

In this one you can just see how I stamped the leafs from Sara Newman ESN20 and butterfly HP1203 both from Paper Artsy.

Fresco Acrylic Paint -Paper Artsy.

The background is filled with foil flakes and lastly paper from Prima.

Simple page using DecoArt plumb I drew the cat. I had to wait until this was dry (overnight) I then used That's Crafty Stencils and drew round them, like in the old days lol. Waited for these to dry and then filled it in with glazes from DecoArt.

I used that's Crafty Stencils and Archival Ink to create Angels, added the wings and the hair is the flower stencil.

Back page

Well I had to didn't I, wouldn't be mine unless there was a girl.

I hope you enjoyed looking at this journal.

Take care and I'll see you soon

Quick Draw

Hi everyone thank you for popping in. Are you looking toward to the weekend? I know I am! Well I always look forward to the weekend but this ones special. It sees my lovely grandson turn 16, and I get to see them all as they come on Saturday for week. Sorry for going on but I'm sooooooo excited lol. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend doing whatever you love most.   Back to today, I'm sharing this quick scribble face, which I will link to Kim Dellow's 'show your face' Friday. Kim invites us to link our faces every week to her site, and this month we have a theme if quick draws. I didn't set a timer, but I work fast anyway. Cannot do slow methodical as its not my style. Once the inspiration hits I'm away! Lol! So this quick draw idea suits me perfectly.

I used the photo below for reference (on Pinterest)

And with a black pen sketched out the face. I dried the ink which makes it waterproof so I could go over with watercolour.

I used Prima Decadent Pies which are really nice paints. This is actually my first time using them and I was very pleased with them.

Hope you get time to play along

Take care as always

Hugs to all xxx

New journal page

Hi everyone, I had a busy weekend preparing for the arrival of my daughter and Grandchildren, who arrive next Saturday, I'm sooo excited. Despite the busyness I still found time for a play in my journal. I was inspired to do this page by the current lesson in Wanderlust a year long programme of workshops and lessons.  The pages are difficult to show as its a double spread, but hopefully you it will make sense. The Stamps I've used are the new release from Paper Artsy and Everything Art. I used a variety of Archival Inks on top of Infusions on Gesso. I also used some images sent free with some stamps I purchased from Teesha Moore as well as some fabric.

I loved making this and felt very free with my decision making, just followed my intuition which is sooo satisfying!

These two pages actually have two pockets for extra tags and bits and pieces. The original has one pocket but I wanted two.

A few close ups

Hope you didn't get bored with all the photos

Take care

Gorgeous

Hi everyone, thanks for popping in. I have a special treat today as I have a one of Trish Latimer's new release of stamps. Yep! They are all beautiful, you can go judge for yourself by following this link to Trish's Etsy Shop. This one is Whimsey Girl no 2
I started by stamping her on my card and using Water Soluble Pencils from Prima I brought her to life. Around her I painted the background using Fresco Acrylic Paint from Paper Artsy in several colours. The next layer was a hand carved stamp and Archival ink. On top of which I heat embossed using the same stamp and White Embossing Powder, I added some white Acrylic circles from another hand carved stamp. The sentiment is Chitchat stickers from Tim Holtz.

I do hope you all have a fab Saturday

Bye for now!

Take care

Birds of a feather

Morning everyone, yah It's Friday! And for many of us, that means the start of the weekend break. I love my weekends, but it wasn't Like that when I did shift work, they were just like any other day. Now days, I enjoy the comfort of working towards those two days off, and have broken out of the waiting for the weekend. You see, when I was waiting for it to come, it felt Robotic! During the week, I would come home, sort dinner, household stuff, eat, bed, and repeat! ...  The fun stuff was saved for the weekend only, which made the week pretty tough. So I decided that I would break that routine and create art everyday. Some days I draw, or I paint, or do any other crafty creative thing I feel I want to do. Other days I  play with digital stuff; what's important is that I've added some time just for me everyday to create.  it was on one of these days that I created this for the new theme that starts today over At Thats Crafty, called Birds of a feather. If you can pop over there as my teamies have created some fabulous makes to tempt you to enter. And don't forget you could win £20.
This is Harry
I used pencil to sketch him out and then used Prima Water Soluble Pencils to colour
him in and then used a black pen to add all the details.

For the background I used chalk ink and Archival ink with a
Hand carved stamp.

I hope you like Harry
Come back soon as I have more to post over the weekend
Take care

Strut your stuff

Hello everyone, happy Thursday to you all and thanks for popping in. It's been hot here in Essex, so you all take care, we don't want any burnt bodies! I must say, even though I'm struggling with the heat at those certain glowing moments women of a certain age experience, but I'm enjoying the in between times, especially of an evening sitting in the garden. As its Thursday, it's my turn over at That's crafty where you can see what I've been up to. Here's a peep to get you guessing.

Come back soon as there's more to come, plus I have a secret to share, so look out for the announcement
Take care

New face

Morning all, hope you are well. I'm feeling sad due to the terrible events in Nice, and the terrible loss of life. My hearts goes out to all who are suffering! I had completed this face earlier in the week and will add it to Kim Dellow's Show your face, follow the link to see what it's all about.
I used pen and Prima Water soluble pencils and oil pastels. This was on a watercolour paper which in fact is not very good so won't use again. The more i worked on the face the more the paper tore creating texture. Not a happy face, she reminds me of work by an Artist  called Joan Dumouchel  which is purely by accident.  Here are some step outs

You will see from the finished picture that it is unfinished but I wanted to leave it there.
Well there she, is in stark contrast to what I usually create. Would love to hear your
Thoughts
Take care for now

Paper piecing

Hello everyone, I've been playing with one of Trish Latimer's new stamps, which I fell in love with when I visited her Etsy shop.

I've created this tag to fit with the New Challenge at Paper Artsy.

'
I be used Trish's stamp from the Worldgirl series - 5 on several pieces of KasiserCraft paper from Mademoiselle. Cut the relevant pieces out from each page and fitted them to my stamped imaged.

The Tag has a coat of Crackle Paint, followed by Infusions and Distress Spray. Once completely dry, I stamped the small flower randomly over the Tag. Used a blue pencil and cut out centres from some of the design papers.

I added some shading to the elements of the tag keeping to the same pallet. The sentiment is from Big Chat.

Lots more ideas this for this beautiful girlie,

Take care and I'll see you soon

Hugs Debs
