Anyway, back to Dina
I had an amazing day. Dina really is a good teacher, I loved the way she gave feedback and knew exactly what to say to get people back on track. I have admired her style for a while now, as well as having her books I have taken several on line classes, so when I had a chance to do a class with her it had to be done. I want to be more free and loose with paint and this class helped with that.
And here is what I completed
For obvious reason I wont share the process.
If you get the chance to either of these ladies classes do it because they are amazing!

So to my inspiration, well tell me I cannot do something and what will I do, yep do it lol. So here is my journal page.
I didn't take many photos but here is a rundown of what I did and used.
In my Small Finnabair journal I scraped white Gesso over the page quite thickly and then scratched some pattens using the double edged texture brushes from Fiinnabair. Once dry I added colour using some Dina Wakley heavy body Acrylics over the page leaving some white areas. Used stamps by Everything Art for Paper Artsy and red paint randomly on the page.
I tried not to over think this as I wanted to keep it loose. I used some of my painty lids and bottle tops around the page to add some interest as well as an old harlequin stamp ( sorry don't know who by) and a floral stencil. Around the edge I added black to form a frame and finshed with a sentiment.
I hope we have inspired you to have a go, and enter the challenge. I also hope you can pop back over the weekend as I will be sharing my adventure at Art from the Heart with Dina Wakley. Take care as always

Hello crafty friends, thanks for popping in, especially as today is Friday, and that means it's 'show your face' over at at Kim Dellow's blog. Kim invites us to make a face and share; some months we have themes, and this month it's inspired by. I'm sharing a face today inspired by the lovely Darcy Wilkinson. Darcy is an amazing artist and designer, she teaches workshops and designs stamps for Paper Artsy as well as regularly demoing for them at all the big craft shows.
Darcy was a great inspiration to me as I started my crafty journey. Seeing her faces brought back my memories of drawing as a child. Always faces/ girls and flowers, never believing I was any good, I gave up. But as I learned more about this wonderful craft world I realised that it would be okay to start drawing again. Darcy advised me about online workshops which would be useful, etc, and I can say I've taken quite a few now, lol. So Darcy, thank you x. The face that inspired my piece today, can be found here, as well as lots of other wonderful art by Darcy, so please if you have the time pop over and have a look. Since I started my journey there have been loads of other wonderful people who have have inspired and influenced by development and I'm thankful to all of them too. Okay so here she is.
I loved painting her it was so much fun. The flowers and butterflies are from Kay Carey EKC 1&2 for Paper Artsy and the face was Fresco Acrylic paint also from PA. the background and flowers are watercolours by Ecoline.
If you would like to join in with Kim's show your face, follow this link. Have fun everyone and I'll see you soon. I'm also entering this into the Craft Stamper challenge for this month.

Many of you will know that I love stencils and most of my art has stencils on it somewhere. The ones I used for this make, were all Dinky Stencils, one of new products produced by That's Crafty. I adore these stencils, not just for ATCs (which they were purposely designed for) but for all my crafting needs. They are such a useful size for me as I tend to use bits of stencils instead of the whole thing and they perfect for that. The medium I used was ink Effects from DecoArt. I love using this ink as you apply it to paper and once dry, iron on the image to your fabric. You can get several prints from the one sheet, although they do get lighter the more you do. I use normal copy paper as the heat travels through it lovely. The best way I have found to use it with stencils is on a small blending tool and sponge. Hold the sponge over the top of the shaken bottle and shake up and down. Squeeze excess ink off my pushing the sponge against the top of the bottle, and use in the normal way. My face was created with a number 5 round brush again onto copy paper.
I prepared my heavy Calico by cutting and ripping to size ( you get a nice frayed edge by ripping). Placing my stencils paper face side down I applied the iron and slowly ironed the background onto the fabric.
I loved how this came out! Placing my face down, I repeated the process.
Part of what I tore off was just the size to write my sentiment on, so using fabric pens I wrote my words in a stylistic way inspired by Joanne Sharpe.
Unfortunately I cannot get to my sewing machine, so used faux stitching around the sentiment as well as the main body. Using a grey/white board and heavy Matt Medium I stuck the fabric to the board. Placed two holes one either side at the top and hooked it up to some chain from Tim Holtz.
I hope you have been inspired to play along, take care as always
