...And as it's the first day of the month, it's a new Challenge at Country View Crafts. The theme this month is Summertime. It's a curious theme in that it sounds simple but when I started to think about it my imagination ran wild. There are so many lovely ways to interpret the theme that I just know you are going to have fun.
My page
I started my page by Brayering Little Black Dress Fresco Acrylic randomly over the page. I did it lightly as I wanted just a touch of black. Once this is finished it gives the look of texture stamps.
To give my page colour and a shimmer I used Lyndy's Stamp Gang sprays in several colours. Once the page was dry I used black Acrylic Ink to define a frame area. This was done loosely using the Ink Pipette to draw onto the page.
I dried the page with a heat tool; I let it cool and them stamped my flowers with Black Archival Ink.
I used Cadium Red Media Fluid on the large Poppy and mixed a pink by adding white.
To finish I used a background stamp with Watering Can Archival ink to add more depth. It's not your usual bright flowery scene, as Summer although pleasant isn't always kind to me. My 'age glows increase relentlessly when it's hot and it feel more manageable when it's cool.
I hope you have time to enter the challenge and show us what Summertime means to you. Time for me to say goodbye. Take care as always, see you soon.

ReplyDeleteLove this page Debs, great techniques! xxx
ReplyDeletesuper results Debs and great techniques - wonderful x
ReplyDeleteThis is going to sound really wild Debs but this makes me think of a mirage in the desert! See those spots to the left - just above the red flower - they look like a water mirage. So you are out on the desert - walking - look up and imagine seeing these three flowers just over the next rise with the water shimmering - alluringly - behind the flowers!!! Your background is so unique and lovely - the colors are perfect for the dry heat of August and although your flowers have bright color they almost look like they are not totally perky/perfect. This is a FABULOUS summertime take! j.
ReplyDeleteIt's not weird at all and in fact I can see it too. Think the acrylic ink helped create that effect.
DeleteThank you for your lovely comment xx

I love your artsy brayered background, Debs - and the flower pops beautifully against it (being a poppy, that's probably appropriate!). Fabulous summertime make.
