Ya gotta love some rust!

Hi everyone, yah! It Friday!

A special welcome to my new followers, it's great to have you here. I hope you enjoy your visits and I would love to hear what you think so leave me your thoughts in the comment box so I know you've been :).

There's been a few changes to the blog, I hope you like them. I wanted something simple looking, things might change some more but I'll get it straight Asap.

Today I'm sharing a 6x6 Mixed Media plaque using DecoArt products. I started by using a piece of Kraft card which I had stencilled some patterns on with white and Burnt Umber Media fluid.

I sprayed White Media Mist and once dry, I used a circle stencil with crackle paste and heat dried it. I applied Patina Antiquing Cream to the raised areas and once dry rubbed it back.

Below you can see that I've added a card from Tim Holtz ideology thrift shop

I used craft paste through the flower stencil and started adding Media Fluid in Quinacrindone Gold.

I took a clip pen nib and pendent and aged them using texture paste and then coloured them with black then Quin Gold.

Using a Tim Holtz butterfly and a stencil with crackle paste. Once dry I sprayed the butterfly with Shimmer Turquoise I rubbed Red Oxide Antiquing Cream in over the cracks and once dry rubbed it off.
I then painted it in Quin Gold to give it a rusty look.

  6. Wow! I absolutely adore this! I saw it first on UPA on FB and then had some trouble finding your new blog, but now I'm here I'm so glad I did! The ageing on this is phenomenal. The background and the butterfly are fantastic. Debs, you are so talented! xx

  7. I have to be honest and say I normally loathe brown or rust projects.
However I really love this Debs - the blue and green just perfectly pop and adding the bright white through the stencil just completely lifts the project. I like the colours, the texture and everything about this and that butterfly is fabulous and then some. You may have converted me to liking talented crafters use of brown and rust Karen x
