One for Autumn!

Hello everyone, thanks for popping in. Autumn is taking hold in some parts of the country but in my little part of Essex it's hardly visible. I still travelled into London today with a thin top and jeans and glowed all day lol.    Anyway with Autumn in mind I created this free standing wooden plaque, which I will  to enter into these challenges. Firstly, Craft Stamper, whose theme is Autumnal Creations  and secondly, Stamps and Stencils theme, Elements of Nature. As you can see from photo, Autumn hasn't yet shown herself in my garden.
  I painted the Plaque with Mahogany, from the Seth Apter's limited addition colours of Fresco Acrylic Paint for Paper Artsy, then once dry I gave a coat of crackle glaze, again once dry a final coat of Chalk Fresco Acrylic.

  I used the same colour to stamp the leafy twigs from Lin Brown's new stamp plate ELB30, faintly all over the area as well as a little script here and there. I wanted to keep the background subtle to allow the features to shine. Once completely dry and using the same stamp in mahogany  I stamped twice, to bulk the stalks out a little and a third time with black Archival Ink to give some definition.

  Now the next part didn't really go as well as I hoped! First with Versamark I stamped the leaves from Lin's Other new plate ELB29 and then applied the flakes from indigoBlu, (sorry cannot remember  which one) quite unsuccessfully! They did not want to stick. Next with a black pen I outlined the leaves roughly. It was quite difficult to make out! I then used a liquid glue spread carefully on each leaf and again applied the flakes. This time they stuck but were untidy, so using Ranger's enamel accents in black, I edged the leaves.

  To finish I wrapped the plaque in garden twine to add to the rustic look I wanted to create, as Autumn has that feel to me. It's not just the beautiful colours but the time when the foliage is dropping and it all looks a bit wild! As I'm writing, I'm reminded of this stanza from Emily Dickinson's poem Nature!

The leaves unhooked themselves from trees

And started all abroad;

The dust did scoop itself like hands

And throw away the road.

And here's another view

That's all folks!
Until next time, take care and stay creative!

  2. Great work Debs. The building flakes look like 'Morris Dance' to me. Its my favourite, pity it's discontinued! I find them difficult to stick to anything other than Flitter Glue.
