Colours to dye for

Hello everyone, I hope you all are well and feeling peaceful. Welcome to my new follows, thanks for popping by and following me, and Happy New Year to you All.

I love this time of year, as spring is not so far away and I am always my best in Spring and Autumn as it is not so hot or cold as Winter or Summer. I find myself struggling in the dark of early winter but as soon as the the Year comes I feel more vitalised.

Today I pushed myself to play with silk and dyes. I have some plain white silk scarfs and dyes in a variety of colours. They are from silk craft ltd and here is a link to a video showing you how to use them. I have had them several months but have not played with them despite many weekend I tell myself I would. Something always stopped me and yet today I did.

I had two different width and length scarfs which eventually would be part of the same scarf.

I died them both separately

This one was the smaller of the two and so would lay on top

On the longer one I also added blue and pink to the purple to add some interest.

I stitched both together down the centre length wise to hold the two pieces of fabric together.

I then started to add my Merino Top wool in Cream and a very dark Mauve. I built up the layers slowly each fixing them into place by th embelisher machine. I really love this and wish I had more time to really master the machine.

I tried to leave gaps of wool in places as the silk scrunched up when the embelisher is on it and I love it.

On either end I added some wool strings made by twisting the wool after it has been secured in place. To this I added some gold strings to add some bling, to contrast against the dark Mauve which in these pictures looks almost brown.

As my winter coat is made from felt and is bright Pink this scarf will compliment it lovely.

Thanks for your vist today,

Take care Debsxxx

  2. Oh wow Debs you have an embellished, fantastic. I'd love one, but have nowhere to put it so therefore it wouldn't get used like it should do, but I love what you've done and how your scarf turned out and I'm sure it will look fabulous with your pink coat xxx
