Daisies

Hi everyone, thanks for coming to see my daisie. All day I have had daisies running through my head after watching a few clips on you tube. I started to practice once I got home in my journal. I used DecoArt Americana range acrylic paint and a 1/2in flat brush.

I saw on The Mixed Media Monthly Challeneg that Flowers are their theme so im entering this into their challenge.

I just painted the flowers randomly over the page. I also practiced some leaves, and bamboo I didn't like the flowers very much but I wasn't bothered.

As I looked  at the pages over a cuppa, I had the idea of spraying ink to cover the white areas and chose colour bloom as I didn't want to cover the page just add some colour. Well!  I loved how it turned out, and that was that I was off...        I don't have many photos sorry!

I just continued to build up daisie until I got to this

The otherside before spraying

Bit of mess! but it wasn't intended as a creation, just a practice. After the spray which I kept the same colours as the other and a couple more layers on the flowers it got to this.

So as a double page it's like this

I'm looking forward playing with the otherside tomorrow. But here's another piccy of the finished page.

Hope you like it as much I do. Big hugs Debs xx

Terracotta to Rust

Hello everyone, thank you for coming to see what I have to share today, I hope you all have been enjoying your weekend wherever you are, and whatever you have been doing.

We have been very busy bees. Our loft is getting cleared. Hooray! We have cleared two carfuls so far which is a fair bit. All the paper and now all the clothes that I have been saving for the day when I can get back into them. Truth is even if I did manage to get back to the size I used to be I probably wouldn't want to wear the clothes I'd saved. So off to recycling for charities they went.

It was a good feeling and so when we got back I went to play and played for the rest of the afternoon.

Products I used are all from  DecoArt except the Vaseline.

All Purpose Sealer
Cadmium Red Hue Media Fluid
Cerulean Blue         Media Fluid
Carbon Black          Media Fluid
Quinacridone Gold  Media Fluid

Texture Sand Paste Media Range
Crackle Paint          Media Range
Red Oxide Antiquing Cream Media Range

While going through the loft I have found some fab pieces to alter, this terracotta watering can, being one of them. Below you can see where I've added a coat of the sealer and then painted on some dark areas randomly around the middle, handle and spout.

I added Vaseline to act as a resist in areas where I wanted the paint to show through. I painted a generous coat of Crackle Paint all over and allowed it to dry. I got some great crackle, and where the Vaseline was the paint came off very easily. I used Antiquing Cream  in the cracks and the wiped off with a damp cloth.

Where the crackle paint was removed I added some texture sand and then dabbed Black over the sand. The second and third coats were in Quinacridone Gold. This was also dragged across the crackle in places using a damp wipe.

I went round the whole piece using the same techniques until I felt I had enough ageing. I had a plant ready to plant in it once it was finished.

If I were to do this again I would go for less rust, but it looks good in its place on the Patio. I would love to read your thoughts.

Big hugs, and bye for now. Debs xxx

And it was

Morning everyone, just a quickly as I was so tired last night I fell asleep. Now don't laugh I is getting older you know. Anyway we have a winner who hit nail on the head.
Yes Lin it is a heart shaped candleholder and it is now yours.

Here is  how I made it - all products are generously provided by DecoArt

I took a plain bisque piece and painted the top with Media fluids in turquoise I applied a thick coat around the edge and then spritz with water letting it run down. I used a contrasting colour for the inside.

I finished the project by adding interference paint in purple on the top and then used metallic lustre champagne on the rims

It is difficult to position it for photos.

Lin will also receive

Again painted with DecoArt products. I painted the flowers and then rubbed them vpback to give an aged look.

I will also add in some bits for Lin to play with.

Thanks for stopping by. I'll see you soon take care

TIO

Afternoon peeps, thank you for coming to see me today as I have a something in Yellow to show you.

Some of my friends are on the Dreamings Dragon Tag It On Deisgn Team and their work inspired me to enter. You can all the teams fabulous work here. The theme is Yellow and texture.

I started with a tag that had previously been a mop up of a mix of Media Mists and Spray Stains.

Through a DecoArt stencil I applied crackle paste.

Once it was dry I added some Media fluid in Hansa Yellow to areas and then sprinkled a little brusho in lemon here and there.

I then spayed a 12x12 tissue sheet from Paper Artsy with Primary Yellow Mister and Yellow Shimmer Media Mist until it was covered. Once dry, I added some Interference paint in gold to add some shimmer here and there.

Next I took a piece of rusty wire and made it into a shape of a dragonfly. This was then laid onto the tissue that had been covered with Decou-Page. Another piece also covered was laid on top to form a wire sandwhich.

I made my flower and attached it to the tag.

The finished Tag

thanks again for your visit. I'm hoping to make some beads tomorrow so if I do I hope to see you back here soon. Take good care. Debs xxx

New plant pot stand

Hello everyone thanks for visiting me today. Here in Essex it is a lovely warm spring day. I hope where ever you are in the world that you are enjoying your day.

I've planted some seedlings this morning, so looking forward to them growing. Enough of my ramblings and onto to introduce the 3rd challenge at Mixed Media World. It was my time to choose the theme which originally was Vintage French, but we struggled to with this so dropped the French. So my theme is Vintage.

Go check out what my teamies made for your inspiration they are all fantastic!

I thought I'd  use Decoart products for my make this time. I took a Bisque circular tile and sealed it with all purpose sealer. I painted the surface in a mix of pale green pale pink and Antique White.

before completely dry painted some flowers in a pink I blended.  Again when not quite dry I rubbed it back, which on some flowers took the paint away completely and gave a nice faded look in others.

I let this completely dry before adding some Vaseline in areas I wanted it to resist my next layer. I then generously coated the tile with crackle paint. I left this over night to dry.

I rubbed away the crackle where the Vaseline had been to leave holes in the crackle where the underneath layer shows. Next I rubbed Umber Antiquing Cream over the cracks. I painted more  flowers which once dry were sanded again to age them. I added Metallic Lustre in Champaign ice around the edges and in places on the front of the tile.

Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial don't forget go check out all the other lovely makes. Big hugs see you soon Deb xx

Introducing a new challenge

Morning all and a very big welcome. Thanks for stopping by as I have some fantastic news . My good friend Mo aka Massofhair is hosting a brand new monthly challenge blog, and I'm honoured to be on the design team.

Old New and Digital too is the idea of Mo, go visit the blog to read how it came about and meet the team. All the details of the challenge can be found there too. The opening challenge is anything goes as long as it contains some thing old and new and something designed by you digitally. What great fun!

Well here is my creation for the opening challenge.
I took a tag and sprayed it with distress ink in Seedles Preserve and Peacock Feathers. I then sprayed some Walnut stain on my craft mat and using my new stencil added some butterflies

in the close up you can see how I've flicked water on the tag to get some drips and blots. I also added some words from another stencil.

Next came my girl, which I created in Draw Plus which  I am loving so expect some more from me once I learn to use the programme. In the close up you can the dress is made from a photo brush which has tiny flowers.

I cut my girl out and added some shading using Fable Castel Paint Pens.

The words on the tag say Embrace Inperfection and Explore Life. The photo doesnt show the words as well as in real life.

So come on go visit the blog for some great inspiration for the Design Team and get your entry in.
hopefully see you on the blog where I can leave your creation a lovely comment. Take care for now and ill see you soon.

Remember

Hello everyone, and a big welcome. It's lovely of you to visit me today as I have some exciting news to share.  As well as a canvas.

First the news, I was approached and of course said yes, to being a featured artist on Altered Pages. You can see it on the 19th May.

        V

Next,  I have a quicky post. it would  be far too boring if I were to talk you through all the different transformations this painting has had. I started it before Christmas and have thrown it several times. However, what inspired me to pick it back up and rework some of it, was the new theme over on the Paper Artsy Challenge blog which is Sprays. I'm entering this canvas into the the challenge.

All the colour on the canvas is Media Mist, either sprayed straight onto the canvas or onto the craft sheet so I could mix the colours for the flowers and brush it on.

I've shown some photos of the different stages. It was all based on this journal page I created a while back. My mum loved it! So the idea came to create her something similar to hang in her new Lounge, as she had just moved.

The canvas I used was 30x30 inches. I started with Media Misters from DecoArt in the blues and greens

I continued to play until I got to the picture below. I love this picture and would have left it somewhere around now, but it was for Mum and I know she would prefer something more flowery similar to the journal page.

I stencilled grunge paste through a Lin Brown Stencil from Paper Artsy.

After many changes this is the finished picture. First some close ups

Mum was very pleased. I hope you like it too.

Well that's it for tonight time for bed. Sending big hugs to you all, take good care
