Once you choose your image you have to remove the background. I usually start with clicking remove lower the size and then click anywhere on the background area. Any areas left on I then tidy with erase.</div><div><br></div><div><br><img id="id_2d72_2a76_7764_6de0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/AjjKlT2H_L33q9ioirbksDlaS51B5mSqD6YLqRCYqnxBNvM9oByWQwGoths" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><br><div style="text-align: center;">Once all the background is removed you can make any other adjustments you need like despeckle the image or smooth your lines. As you clean up your image and remove background you will see it appear in the right hand corner.</div></div><div><br><img id="id_a7b5_65a_14e8_c63" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/qq_ld5RzZeceLDJ0q7_GFK63NttB6_nUxJc79xb21fxvWhNLI7BcQ89f9jA" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><br><div style="text-align: center;">Once you are happy with the image press next. Hello everyone spring is here, and it’s felt like it the this week here in Penrith with warm days and spring flowers popping up every where. It’s my favourite seasons as everything is renewed which makes me feel good. How you all feeling?<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Well this months challenge at my home on social media <a href="https://countryviewchallenges.blogspot.com/" id="id_4e0a_aabe_56eb_f125">Country View Crafts</a> is numbers or letters or both brought to us by the very talented and all round lovely lady Evelyn and here is the first of my inspiration pieces. Don’t forget there’s a £20 voucher to be one, be sure to follow the guidelines or else you won’t be entered.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" id="id_5baf_1175_a52_375d" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-g64RdVh3y3w/XHcTIqxhrXI/AAAAAAAAjhs/qr-EqSjZB801Gf_3oClFJ9bMa2f-pzO7QCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
Bit different for me I think you will agree</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I started off with a crackle glaze followed by Decoart spray media in shimmering white. This gives a fine crackle. Next came a sprinkle</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
of Infusions Rocky road by Paper Artsy. I loved it just like this but it needed some stamping.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" id="id_68a4_dee5_faf6_d009" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-opVtndFsQbM/XHcTJnC11pI/AAAAAAAAjhw/bP88e65XOkoWG9Pz6WJiJvM4LJKhSNuEQCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
I got so carried away I forgot more pics, but taking three different fonts by Tim Holts for Ranger I randomly stamped on my numbers</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In a variety of Archival inks.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I loved the jumble up feel to this background </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<img alt="" id="id_65ea_47d_91e1_2688" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ig8T9RJg1b4/XHcTLkn--pI/AAAAAAAAjh0/zLF2hMEgve00RUVIzmwLGx2brd2ewFLCwCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
Then I added one of the butterflies I designed on my Cricut Maker which I also cut out</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This image is below and is free for you to use, (if used on social media please credit me) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" id="id_4802_6472_24ba_fd4d" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Js1Gieui0t4/XHcTMN07oHI/AAAAAAAAjh4/7vUjqymKLtU7l9zWTibTxRzRyg5jqI6XACHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
<br />
I first applied Distress oxide and then stamped onto it</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I adhered it to the tag on a bed of a teabag and edged with lace.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the body I used the ideas lamp and a clock face for its head, two stars on stick and it was finished. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The difference for me was I wanted a more contemporary feel and so didn’t Distress the ephemera and left it in its natural state.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<img alt="" id="id_69a2_d000_cfb2_c81d" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-A_yF0zed2fs/XHcTMxfScnI/AAAAAAAAjh8/HxoJIGYa56UGrXqdIp71_zk31zgxVizIACHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
Hope you enjoyed seeing how this was constructed </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
See you soon</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hugsxxx </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

Hello everyone, as I write this we have 50 mile an hour winds outside and its also pouring with rain. So pleased I'm snug as a bug and hope you are too.<br />
<br />
Today I have a card for my second inspiration for this months challenge for <a href="http://countryviewchallenges.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Country View Crafts</a> which is use black and white and a colour of your choice. I chose silver. I made this using my Cricut Maker a fabulous machine which can make so many of your crafting projects.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgraCAGzhavymiXH5CK2pDxvsp9jx0AGsgelf5MfO0PXjNKDCM0Zr-MLQDLP7B3K9MtWs2DLSwayNxAz9nHZlqHsC43h_HzsAvN6PfyBgihu7quN4L9nyXv_vDghec9obuSl55_PJLaRjo/s1600/IMG_6603.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgraCAGzhavymiXH5CK2pDxvsp9jx0AGsgelf5MfO0PXjNKDCM0Zr-MLQDLP7B3K9MtWs2DLSwayNxAz9nHZlqHsC43h_HzsAvN6PfyBgihu7quN4L9nyXv_vDghec9obuSl55_PJLaRjo/s640/IMG_6603.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
I first designed my flowers on my iPad with Procreate. I have included those designs on this page and you are free to download and use them in your personal projects. if you share them with social media please acknowledge where you got them.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
I started designing these back in the Autumn but with Christmas and preparations for my course I put them on the back burner. However for my course I designed a butterfly and cut them out and thought while cutting I might as well cut the flowers as well.<br />
<br />
<br />

I chose the ones wanted for my card and using a glue with a fine nozzle I drew my pattern onto the flowers and leaves and then added my sparkle glitter.<br />
<br />
While I waited for the glitter to dry I cut my background paper to size, mixed up some white fluid acrylic in white with a little water and flicked it onto the black card.<br />
<br />
I then assembled the card. These designs can be used in the Cricut explore or Maker or if you have another cutting machine thats allows you to input images.<br />
<br />
There are lots of dies of flower shapes in the <a href="https://www.countryviewcrafts.co.uk/sizzix-1-c.asp" target="_blank">shop</a> which you could use in the same way to create this simple but effective card. I finished it with some large chit chat stickers but you could also use your favourite quote or stamp on yours.<br />

Well my first week is completed and I love it. Having the whole teaching online really suits my style, we seem to have a wonderful cohort who already work in illustration in some way or have a degree so I have some very talented people to learn from.<div><br></div><div>Our first practice brief was to create an I (for illustration) which shows something of yourself as way of introducing yourself to the group and as I have now uploaded to my course I can share it with you here.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">For anyone who really knows me it is self explanatory as I haven’t gone for anything cryptic</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">But those who done here goes.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">The top is filled with mountains which I love, a nest with 3 birds represents my grandchildren and my daughter flying in to feed them.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">The tree itself is a huge love of mine and the vine is for all the country side around me. The light, my guiding light, is my husband who is my biggest fan as well as my biggest critic lol. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">Then the tree is filled with some of the important things to me, my cat, books, pens, sheep, my iPad (lol) my home with its picket fence and my baby girl who lives in heaven. Then we have the deep roots which I feel I have already put down in my not so new home. (Almost a year when we moved)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div><img id="id_96f4_76d9_c8c5_145" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QtIOCgM76Yk/XFXshVaUKOI/AAAAAAAAjYI/KdQP7AaezcwvtXyjxy4Tuy7QaK77ZtySgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><br><br><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">And here is how I created it</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">Onto an A3 piece of mixed media paper I sketched my final draft. I had sketched it out several times in small scale to finalise my ideas. I then used making fluid on the leaves and small items on the tree. Once dry I added a water glaze to all the background and the dropped in purple and blue watercolour paint. (Danial Smiths) once that was dry I sprinkled brusho on top and activated it with water.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img id="id_7e8b_29f2_522c_f3f7" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-_BCCs-hzeXg/XFXsiFMUC9I/AAAAAAAAjYM/DRwQysMMO-U6TvxQ5BYKU-X4wAdAg5r7ACHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto;"><br><br><br>I finished painting my mountains and once dry rubbed off the masking fluid. Hello everyone welcome to the February challenge for <a href="http://countryviewchallenges.blogspot.com/" id="id_87a_aa4b_9aad_2587">Country View Crafts</a> which theme chosen for us by the super talented Sue is Black and white and a choice of 1 other colour. I decided to sketch a portrait as I just love drawing! Don’t forget to enter your creations to be in with a chance to enter the draw.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" id="id_a00a_5e25_2c7c_d266" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-zZW2Q27aJac/XFAl6YGd2hI/AAAAAAAAjWo/KhtGDqEvM2Y3uDMGmz0eRItWay8RZcw0wCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
I started by mapping in the basic shapes ( I’ve recently started to use reference photos, as they are helping me with shading and proportions. I always refused to use them as I thought being able to draw out of my head was better. However I’ve realised that to improve and develop I need to have something to help me as I was really getting anywhere) I didn’t copy exactly just enough to help me with shadows and lights.<br />
<img alt="" id="id_5f5_a764_2c64_eaf3" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4xx0G81MT6w/XFAl7CUsmYI/AAAAAAAAjWs/wztVdn96-pYGYIKLA5WzHpuSCsFDVnTlgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br /></span>And more - I used a Derwent mechanical Pencil which is quite light in value.</div>

<br />
And the final piece</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">I decided to switch to soft pastels at the end just to get some more contrasts in shadows and lights. </span></div>

<br />
I quite like how she came out and hope you do to.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Come back soon to see my piece I completed for the course I’m studying (MA in Illustration) with is to illustrate the the letter I</div>

I love this paper as there is very little warping due to how heavy the paper is, it has some texture but not too much and the pigment is absorbed a little but doesn’t sink into the paper making it dull. You can add many layers of pigment and it stands up well to other mediums such as pencils, pastels etc. I haven’t used it for acrylics but imagine it would handle the medium very well.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">Next onto the paint I used, in this this case it was Sennelier watercolour tubes, which is one of my favourites along side Daniel Smiths. I bought a set of colours recommended by Billy Showell, a watercolour artist specialising in Botanical art. I also use brushes designed by her, my set consists of a 2, 4, 6 in both sable and synthetic and I love them all. I use a ceramic pallet as I love how the colour mixes and is easily removed from it. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">So to start!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">I first taped. My paper to my mat and sketched my composition.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">I added a water glaze to the whole area of the background and started dropping in colour, blues, purples at the top and blues and greens at the bottom.</div><div style="text-align: center;">I mix my own greens (mixing video coming up soon)</div><div style="text-align: center;">Once the colour was added I then splashed on water to get the colour flowing. I dried and then repeated the process. The 3rd layer was also a repeat but more concentrated colour was used in blues and greens and then with a straw I blew the little puddles to form the branches of the trees. I love the unpredictability of this as you have to give up the control. Lastly I added the leaves with a no.4 synthetic brush.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img id="id_8a06_c682_a842_c386" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-J2i2mTgLZ3g/XE2L43sZxWI/AAAAAAAAjVM/qz9QzTML-skRIox8-lFb3Bgva_aF_HomgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br></span><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">Started to add more branches and leaves, as well as stems for the flowers. I was almost scared to touch Polly as I really liked the background and didn’t want to spoil it.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br><br><br><img id="id_6bef_4c4_eb83_b8ff" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Iud2u-N7KL4/XE2L5nbk5hI/AAAAAAAAjVQ/OvBFVXCBFNoQCL_38gpbLQUWN1Pv3B8tgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto;"><br><br>The lavender is painted loosely to fit in with the whole composition as I wanted Polly to be the focal point. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br><img id="id_d715_3187_dbdf_5251" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-eaRyBoO1rR8/XE2L6UNTFCI/AAAAAAAAjVU/fZNJn_QVDJEXMlAHEORnDiXzfKX_C1GjwCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto;"><br><br><br>Okay so now onto Polly, I had to be brave! I mixed up the colours using a small piece of paper to test I had the colours I wanted. And started building up the layers. It’s just been so mild that the cold feels a bit of a shock, lol. Well it’s that time again for my inspiration for Country View Crafts current theme of city/landscapes. I cannot believe we are over half way through January already, time definitely flies.<div><br></div><div>For my second piece I chose to paint a cityscape, now be gentle with me as this is very much a first. I don’t own any city/landscapes stamps so my choices were very limited, and as neither are a particular interest to me, a very big challenge. (One of the reasons I love this theme so much is that it really challenged me) nothing like a good challenge to get you creative muscles working. </div><div style="text-align: center;">There really are so many faults with this piece but I’m pleased with it!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><img id="id_5214_adc2_2aa3_8e32" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Bb1hohlreoI/XEUFZXvDTII/AAAAAAAAjUY/FgwcsPjmlzYVI5PtFKbc-HUVQ01QFk-ZgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto;"><br><div style="text-align: center;">So I started by roughly sketching my buildings and street. I lost perspective along the way,</div><div style="text-align: center;"> I <span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">didn’t use a reference photo as </span>I wasn’t going for realism, and quite like the whimsy feel.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">I then added a water glaze all over my page and let it soak in while I mixed my paints. I used Sennelier watercolour tubes but you could use</div><div style="text-align: center;">either Prima watercolour pans or Jane Davenports. Any watercolours would do!</div><div style="text-align: center;">The colours I used for the sky were: Quinacridone Gold - a very warm yellow Sennelier yellow deep - cooler but still warm Sennelier red. For the buildings I mixed various blues greys and purples, using a mix of the primary colours varying the amounts of each to hues and values I was after. The blues I used where Pthalo and ultramarine. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">I plan to do a video on mixing greys and browns so watch this space!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">Anyway now my colours are mixed I start adding the colour to the wet glaze, dropping in the different colours to the sky area. Once dry I start to block in the buildings, using lighter values at the back and darkening them as I come forward. </div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">I want a very loose paintily style so after adding a glaze of colour I add lots of clean and splashes to add texture.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br><img id="id_ea65_861d_2451_fa23" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QhQBQyNGJrM/XEUFZ77rozI/AAAAAAAAjUc/Zh8COiP16JAhnbIZbhV-txl4qWuJ3tLAQCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);">Building up more layers</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img id="id_b928_c552_2d18_1ba9" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-JbXuZlbfH80/XEUFagoWcXI/AAAAAAAAjUg/CAhahaO69eo1xavm9AdKUTOwJievxgoKwCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto;"><br><br><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);">And more</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);">Once it was completely dry I added some oil pastels in areas to added depth and the figures walking. It’s been very quite and relaxed here, just how I like it. Today I have a little card using the wonderful stamps from Chocolate Baroque.<div><br></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br><br><img id="id_1bd7_b03f_3cb4_217c" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-I4arXLqvn5c/XCXiRMMv-1I/AAAAAAAAjKI/JjvPH7ZwLo0KfX9TW-w_CPpLqCddSg4jgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto;"><br><br><br><br><br><br><br>I’ll talk through the process </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">I have some burlap which has a paper backing so used this as a mat for this card. Then onto watercolour card I applied Distress Oxides. I stamped this fabulous hat and cogs from a stamp plate called Steampunky, (I love this set) and painted it with watercolour paints. I added some gold paint to complete the look. I then stuck it onto my card. A very quick and simple card but very effective. <br><br></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">Take care</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">Hugs</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img id="id_4db4_f8ea_6a6d_1d7d" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-eahkxWMn_wM/XCXhfyoCMbI/AAAAAAAAjKA/oaumLKWggUggebK8X5qWK65Ohtey1IyNQCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 300px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><br><br><br></div>Deborah Wainwrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09233225034879345417noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2180417623617285204.post-24186335220602637432018-12-23T06:30:00.000+00:002018-12-23T06:30:02.733+00:00Last minute wrappingHi everyone, I have a quick post today as I know you will all be busy with your last minute preparations and I don’t want to keep you. <div style="text-align: center;">
Hi everyone I have a little trinket box to share today using a carousel box from Tonic and stamps from Rubber Dance. This little box can be used in so many ways, for gifts as a favours box at weddings, as a fancy box to store needles or pins etc. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<br />
<img alt="" id="id_fcaa_3702_a1b0_3b20" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-TlNC2CHz6wk/XAReEQsLZ4I/AAAAAAAAjGw/lf1cQi-DyykLU5nRFVIXZszvbwG_j0UKgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
<br />
I added Distress Oxides all over the outside of the box </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<img alt="" id="id_196b_5570_c835_5ad9" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-MxqfN_td-ug/XAReEgFL5KI/AAAAAAAAjHA/C1mlO4K4yqMLa0VNB6vssUgDj4TiddiFgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br /></span>Flicked water all over and the dried it with a heat gun</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<img alt="" id="id_3b46_9bfb_7d41_beaf" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-uSeFGbEm3S0/XAReEpCjuSI/AAAAAAAAjG0/HCqi-pctauYK-TIIzNZDdvz5s4C7dUakACHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
<br />
With the die comes theses little panels (there are lots of other pretty cut outs I’ll show you at a later date)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<img alt="" id="id_7a41_7d28_73bb_e772" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4zw51LEvqrw/XAReEiYCewI/AAAAAAAAjG4/5SRNaMA0ZnMNbGbNgg6KDAmnVIhZU2zRwCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used elements from both these stamp plates which I designed for Rubber Dance </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<img alt="" id="id_2644_8436_6f9_fe1a" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-A4K1L0OjhSE/XAReFMxrtRI/AAAAAAAAjHM/_lQ3jE0Q5Ds4xqhDN3pksTlygTvjFn7SACHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br /></span>
I stamped them alternating the designs and used Sennelier watercolours to paint the flowers.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<img alt="" id="id_8dea_9a86_3ddf_d52f" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-scn26uuF7MQ/XAReEEoVwRI/AAAAAAAAjGs/W_LBA8LF3Dc3Ky7VXfYKESUNKsXyimdRACHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />

So to start us off I have a love Christmas design which I made into a card for my lovely daughter.<div><br></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img id="id_47b0_e96a_3c7_7954" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-LJKDKJjgF2k/XBLEwTF90II/AAAAAAAAjHw/Uba20cgUDSYs4GO7d-Qc731gH6-UYc8agCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto;"><br><br><br>I love this stamp which is Serena, it’s such a pretty stamp and can be used in many ways. I chose to use it for a card as I thought it would be perfect for my daughter as I know she will love it.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">So I started by stamping the image into watercolour card with black archival ink.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;">I used watercolour paints on this image. <br />
Hi everyone welcome to The Christmas challenge at Country View Crafts. As always there is a chance to win a voucher to spend in store, but don’t forget to follow the guidelines with your entry as if you forget you will not be entered. There are some fabulous makes from the team to further inspire you which you can see <a href="https://countryviewchallenges.blogspot.com/2018/12/december-2018-christmas.html" target="_blank">here</a> I have a vintage card for you for my first inspiration using Oxides on the background and die cuts for my focal point.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<img alt="" id="id_fb9c_1997_72e_83d4" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xOK6rnJzWjo/W_2uh7LgkZI/AAAAAAAAjDE/d5jluLctt_U9R-U9_2cnnXMdx4K9q-_zQCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="display: block; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
So let’s start with the background </div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I cut water coloured card to fit just over 3/4 of the card for 1 piece, and then another piece to the remaining of the card with a slight gap. I used a mixed of Old Paper, Forest Moss and Gathered Twigs Distress Oxides smooched all over, flicked with water and then dried. I repeated this several times </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Until I was happy with the mottled affect. I then completely dried it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then edged the card with baked texture </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<img alt="" id="id_3ca4_58bf_9603_26a" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-e8KBm9Vlokw/W_2uilDlhaI/AAAAAAAAjDU/yieLJpXIZ8wz-bRQMQoNryNxVedfqL8cgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 746px;" title="" tooltip="" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
I cut several items from Winter Foliage </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<img alt="" id="id_68bd_f4c6_ea1f_df4d" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-gIixyciyPog/W_2uicMEymI/AAAAAAAAjDM/G5dkcZ87Oastl4eF4uDbCS6MshAGoPKTACHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="display: block; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
<img alt="" id="id_2a77_85f7_348b_e0c" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2J5RQjz3lAY/W_2uiTwlUTI/AAAAAAAAjDI/BdZ0X6Bdp7QmmOcbo7xEwlyVUKABhCFuQCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="display: block; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I painted them using Sennelier watercolour paints, as if I were actually painting. For example, added my colour and then blended out the </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
colour with clean water. I mixed a light green for the edge of the holly with lemon yellow and French Ultramarine and then a dark green substituting the lemon yellow with sennelier yellow deep. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" id="id_3c3d_69c8_b4f0_53e0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-3aUFAFvu9NU/W_2uihkR9NI/AAAAAAAAjDQ/dSV8n2o6HtAiok_qr0x2XcYbh2MutIhoQCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 746px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
For the berry’s I mixed sennelier Red Deep and Rose Madder Lake into a nice deep colour and then separated into two puddles, one I made a little darker for the shadow. I was mindful of leaving my highlight.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love how it all came together, and hope you like it too.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
See you later in the month</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hugs xx</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" id="id_3a44_a89f_4a0_b791" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-9Ie220YmrKM/W_2uhhdMnVI/AAAAAAAAjDA/zAw00RGe2WE2yCLMWv623kTrqcneU4GkgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="display: block; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; width: 85px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />

Over the last year they have become my favourite medium for all my creative needs. Today I created a grungy card in a style I would usually use in my journal but thought it would work as a card too. So here it is and then I’ll walk you through how I created it.<div><br></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><img id="id_b451_45f4_985_f809" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-NsNxD1a21to/W_8OGkYHjlI/AAAAAAAAjD8/JC0kYBXHOM8n36A5m1d9etZc76pDUKnzwCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto;"><br><br><br></div><div><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Sorry the lights not great but it’s hard to get anything completed before it’s dark now days. So I started with the background by wetting the card with clean water, then started to add the colours. I used a mix of Daniel Smith and Sennelier watercolour paints, both are on my palette, as I love both makes. I made a small puddle of each colour and dropped it onto the wet card. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><img id="id_89c5_7b50_e4f2_3551" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-KGTafV0ni1Y/W_8OGszrtBI/AAAAAAAAjDw/3d0iaEFyWEcc68P_2-NF7KsOStu8fAAFgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 249px; height: auto; margin: 4px; float: left; display: block;"><br><br><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Wet in wet - When you drop paint onto a wet surface it’s spreads and runs allowing for more accurate blending, <br><br><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><img id="id_8e39_3ff8_9a96_313d" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Epzp_1w6w8Q/W_8OHLtxybI/AAAAAAAAjEE/eF-YFhB__lQuySGgBhxtH7Nsq_x6YgoDgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto; margin: 4px auto; display: block;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br></span>For this make I left hard edges and allowed it to cauliflower (technical term) as it adds interest, however, if you were using the paint traditionally you would blend out the hard edges.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br><img id="id_b394_c489_9e87_ad04" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UNuxC83ZE78/W_8OGjHtNZI/AAAAAAAAjD4/QGYuIWdWOO4a1dINmkyndKePzuVpVGiFgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Once the background was dry I used Old Page stamp from Rubber Dance with Archival ink in Plum randomly over the page. I used a light pressure in some areas and heavier in others. This creates added interest.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br><img id="id_7986_48b9_2746_3d86" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8cEHPzkf42g/W_8OHLTudWI/AAAAAAAAjEM/GpcdTQ6vEnUASUGxVihTZXaRDDOePn3QACHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><br>I then stamped my focal point <span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); text-align: start;">da Vinci Body Sketch from Rubber Dance. I love this stamp as it has many creative uses. For this card I kept it simple. I chose my light to come from the right side so added a shadow on the left side. Again working wet in wet, I softened the edge of where I added the paint to blend it slightly. Using the shadow in this way gives a more 3D affect.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><div style="text-align: start;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><br></span></div><div style="text-align: start;"><img id="id_3baf_866c_95a3_8e2b" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-IFlj9o1Z2Ug/W_8OHERJq-I/AAAAAAAAjEI/LdiCD7aiY8IjYFbvME0Ia9aU6hDR1Yz3wCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><br>To finish I added a sentiment, aged the edges, and mounted it onto kraft card. Hello everyone, it’s been a while. I took a break to give myself some time to settle into my new home and just play for myself. Sometimes I find creating for a deadline can affect my creativity so its good to just play for yourself at times. Anyway I’m back with my inspiration for this month’s theme over at <a href="http://countryviewchallenges.blogspot.com/" id="id_8129_b7dc_bda9_b5b2">Country Views Crafts</a> which is the on trend Artist Trading Coins. Yes they are everywhere!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So to be in with a chance of winning £20 to spend in the shop let’s see what you come up with.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My large tag</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" id="id_b6df_5f7_e0a_e122" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-v_PXxbBiddI/W8zopwLHLBI/AAAAAAAAjA4/SszApN8T-_c3PRE0EIKHfSNnC1aw7yiZwCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
Created a crackle background with weather wood and tinting base from DecoArt </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<img alt="" id="id_301f_59c9_fa9b_76c4" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-VLolbtYQbZU/W8zoqGyBL-I/AAAAAAAAjA8/blYzvDMA2C0smK29u8gSXaOVTiXtDL-IACHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
Then coloured the crackle with Distress Oxides from Ranger<br />
<br />
<img alt="" id="id_2365_db25_adf0_83aa" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--yPtlVikU9U/W8zop5_bd9I/AAAAAAAAjA0/GOQGYxH5t9M8uaQfBHCh4luXkPC_JCc9QCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br />
<br />
I painted the Coins with the tinting base and applied the same colours of Oxide</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<img alt="" id="id_e02e_c3d8_d7b8_80a9" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Ec9Fvv2dSBg/W8zopAOaMbI/AAAAAAAAjAk/bly1Q-BjynYJYZtmCyhjWJg957MuM7R2gCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" style="height: auto; width: 700px;" title="" tooltip="" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br /></span>I edged the Coins and tag with gold paint. Then built my layers, first old teabags then the coins.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br /></span>To finish I die cut some flowers from Tim Holts Wild flowers and used the Oxides for colour. I used old book page from Rubber Dance </div>

The repetition of making something and then sharing it here, is so last year! But I do enjoy sharing what I make so I have decided to change things and see how it goes.<div><br></div><div>What to expect - I want the blog to be more personal, more chatty and not just be about my makes so I will be sharing more of me and less tutorials (more about those later) I still share what I make but it will be just be a photo. The more detailed stuff will be shared in a different format but I tell you more about all that at a later date. </div><div><br></div><div>Today I’m sharing a journal page I made for the Paper Artsy blog - all the details can be found <a href="https://blog.paperartsy.co.uk" id="id_571e_4d42_46c5_1063">here</a> there are some new tips on achieving a great background so worth a visit.</div><div><br></div><div><img id="id_426f_fff6_3110_71a9" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-c7g2ElZz9Tc/W119FgbjrVI/AAAAAAAAi4c/hI8YsyJQ798hSrtJCBSd7oMZfu5GfvVcgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 700px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><br><br><div style="text-align: center;">Bye for now xxx</div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img id="id_ce94_287c_55a0_43d9" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-fJm8DcHqWhE/W119FR0oiOI/AAAAAAAAi4Y/clvNNmGK7QYVkHqCIcOimsBB6MGA3LEEgCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 100px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><br><br><br></div>Deborah Wainwrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09233225034879345417noreply@blogger.com0
